Job Description:
Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Communication Manager to join our Communications Department based in Kinston, NC.
You will be responsible for site communications activities to include internal, external, and change management communications.
Meet the Team:
Our Communications team members provide effective communications to support a variety of Airbus programs through strategic internal, external, social media, and crisis communications. Our team is fluent in all areas of digital communications, media, and public relations. We leverage available channels and tools, as well as creating new ones. We partner with business units throughout Airbus to position the company as a brand of choice for external customers and employees alike. Join the Communications team and help tell the Airbus story.
Your Challenges:
- Establish a Communications framework for site based on assessment of Communications requirements. 30%
- Manage Airbus’ brand identity/voice ensuring it is accurately reflected throughout the site and communications materials.
- Support key internal stakeholders, including local site leadership and regional Communications team, to develop and deploy corporate messaging to support Airbus production objectives and company culture. 20%
- Produce all communications content in company channels and platforms (intranet, digital displays, website, and posters).
- Manage employee events/milestones to promote a safe, positive, and productive working environment, and document events with production of engaging audiovisual assets. 20%
- Manage relationships with external vendors, including agencies, videographers, and photographers to deploy communications activities.
- Serve as primary site communications focal point and spokesperson for Airbus, local employees, media, and community. 30%
- Manage relationships with key external stakeholders, including Community and media, to ensure adequate representation of the Airbus brand and voice.
- Other duties as assigned.
Your Boarding Pass:
Required:
- BA degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or similar field
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role
- 5% Domestic and some International travel
- Eligible for employment in the U.S. – able to work in the U.S. without current or future need for visa sponsorship.
- Familiarity with Google Suite office products (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Excellent writing skills
- Able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and with minimal supervision
- Must speak and write fluent English
- Ability to speak to senior leadership: advise and counsel
- Ability to draft and implement strategic communication plans with measurable results
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite office products (Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides)
Preferred:
- Experience in communicating within a manufacturing/production environment preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with AP Style
- Familiarity with communicating internally and externally in a production/manufacturing site
- Graphic design and multimedia asset production, including shooting/editing videos for internal communications use
- Google Suite proficiency
Physical Requirements:
- Vision: Daily able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports. 100%
- Hearing: Daily able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. 100%
- Speaking: Daily able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information, and participate in communications. 100%
- Equipment Operation: Daily able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment. 100%
- Carrying: Daily able to carry documents, boxes, promotional items up to 30lbs/14kgs. 5%
- Lifting: Occasionally able to lift documents, boxes, promotional items up to 30lbs/14kgs. 5%
- Pushing / Pulling: Occasionally able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. 0%
- Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. 100%
- Squatting / Kneeling: Occasionally able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
- Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. 100%
- Travel: Able to travel independently and at short notice. 10%
- Walking: Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. 100%
Administrative Position Only PPE Required:
Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits. Appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
