Summary
PaintCare seeks a qualified candidate to join its communications team to support public education and outreach activities. Reporting to the communications manager, the associate will contribute to advertising campaigns, media relations, and content creation. Responsibilities include actively engaging with media agencies, managing promotional campaigns for PaintCare sites and events, writing press releases and pitching contacts, planning and writing advertisements, and developing other educational materials. PaintCare will consider candidates with 2+ years of relevant experience.

PaintCare is committed to making it easy and convenient for households, businesses, and institutions to recycle postconsumer (leftover) paint in states with paint stewardship laws. A nonprofit organization created by paint manufacturers, PaintCare sets up drop-off locations for leftover paint, arranges for recycling and proper disposal, and conducts public education. More than 70 million gallons of paint, stain, and varnish have been managed by PaintCare in 10 states and the District of Columbia. Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage promotional campaigns for PaintCare paint drop-off events in several U.S. states
- Create timelines for projects, track progress, and ensure team meets deadlines
- Coordinate with media agencies and other external consultants
- Develop advertising campaigns including concepts, writing, trafficking, and measuring effectiveness
- Plan and implement media relations campaigns including writing press releases and alerts, distributing to contacts, following up, and generating coverage
- Create and maintain media lists and organize media clippings using media monitoring software
- Develop processes to increase efficiency in projects and maintain high standards of quality and accuracy
- Write and edit articles, editorials, and publications
- Proofread and fact-check deliverables including quality checking and version control
- Research topics to support public outreach campaigns
- Document and report preparation
- Report to colleagues and stakeholders on campaign performance
- Assist with development of web and social media content
- Represent PaintCare at national and regional conferences
- Assist with the organization and administration of the company digital asset management system
- Perform additional duties as needed

- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), internet browsers
- Experience with project management and proficiency with project management software (e.g., Redbooth, Trello, Smartsheet, etc.)
- Proficiency with using cloud-based software platforms for work activities (e.g., Box.com, Bill.com, etc.)
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite programs is preferred
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to occasionally travel for team meetings and program events
- Interest in environmental issues and the goals of the PaintCare program
Location and Travel
This position is located at ACA headquarters in Washington, DC and will operate within a hybrid work environment (working both onsite and remotely). This position will be expected to travel for work events a few times per year within the US.
Employment, Salary and Benefits
This is a full time, regular position. Salary is dependent on experience, but on estimate can range from $62,000 to $72,000. PaintCare, through the ACA, provides generous benefits [401(k), vacation days, medical, dental, and life insurance] and reimbursement for travel expenses.
