Position Overview

The Communications Manager will play a key role in managing and coordinating daily communications operations for No Labels, including overseeing digital and content strategy and press and media outreach. In this role, you will lead and manage the digital team, coordinate the creation and distribution of digital and written content, and ensure alignment across various communication channels, including social media, email, and media relations. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and works well across teams.

This person should demonstrate strong leadership, excellent project management skills, and a deep understanding of digital communications and content creation. Key Responsibilities

Lead Digital Team Operations
Manage a team of six digital professionals, ensuring clear direction, daily task management, and collaboration.

Content Management & Project Oversight
Facilitate weekly meetings with key stakeholders to review content calendars, weekly messaging, email campaigns, and upcoming action items.

Task Tracking
Send message recaps and track progress to ensure all team members are on the same page and meet deadlines.

Email Management
Oversee the production of all email content, from drafting to final approvals. Collaborate with team members to review, edit, and approve email drafts, newsletters, and updates.

Social Media Content
Oversee all social media content (including captions, graphics, and videos) before distribution. Work closely with the digital team to brainstorm and implement daily social media plans.

Video Content Production
Collaborate with the video production team to ensure content is aligned with messaging goals, overseeing scriptwriting, video editing, and final approvals.

Press and Media Relations
Oversee the press team, coordinating media outreach, pitching, and ensuring timely responses to press inquiries.

Booking Media Appearances
Facilitate TV and media bookings for No Labels surrogates, collaborating with external booking contacts to ensure smooth coordination.

Monitoring Media
Use tools like Meltwater and TV Eyes to track news mentions and press coverage, sharing insights with the team.

Strategy Development
Provide strategic recommendations on content, messaging, and digital outreach based on trends, analytics, and team feedback.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 6-8 years of experience in communications, digital media, or public relations, with a focus on content creation, digital strategy, and media relations.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead a team, manage multiple projects, and collaborate across departments.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills with experience managing content calendars, timelines, and team coordination.
  • Excellent Writing and Editing: Superior writing and editing skills, with experience in email marketing, social media content, and press releases.
  • Digital Media Expertise: Familiarity with digital tools (e.g., Meltwater, TV Eyes) and platforms for content distribution (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Substack, email platforms).
  • Media Relations: Strong understanding of press and media outreach, including pitching, press releases, and managing media inquiries.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to think critically and make decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in political or advocacy communications.
  • Comfort working with senior leadership and advising on strategy.

Work Environment

This is a full-time position based in Washington, D.C. The Communications Manager will work closely with both internal teams and external partners to implement effective communications strategies.

Pay: $134,000.00 – $135,000.00 per year
