This position provides a great opportunity to learn about the development of policy and regulations. The selected person will perform a variety of administrative functions as part of the public policy team and have a front row seat at meetings where thoughtful exchanges occur to develop a strategy. In addition to administrative tasks, the coordinator also searches for relevant information and learns priority issues for our industry.

### Essential Job Functions

– Provide administrative, logistical, and substantive support to the Public Policy Department, including planning internal/external meetings and preparation of meeting materials; arranging travel plans; scheduling appointments.
– Manage preparation and logistics of Environment Resource Committee and relevant subcommittee meetings.
– Prepare the minutes of various committee meetings and calls.
– Facilitate the distribution of departmental analysis and policy developments to AF&PA member companies.
– Monitor and compile a daily report of the Federal Register.
– Manage the department’s Bloomberg Government account and send issue-relevant stories to appropriate staff members.
– Oversee and monitor departmental budget planning and implementation and handle project and administrative management.
– Assist in the execution of large AF&PA meetings or fly-ins for Congressional or Administration meetings.
– Answer and accurately direct incoming calls from AF&PA members, Federal agency and Congressional staff, and other outside parties.
– Organize and maintain the filing system in conformance with the Association’s record retention policy.
– Maintain and update committee distribution lists in our database (for mailing letters, e-mail notices, etc.).
– Compile and calculate individual expense reports and vendor invoices.
– Answer general inquiries referring to department activities and provides general office support, such as ordering supplies, setting up conference rooms for meetings, etc.

### Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in one of the social sciences.
– Three or more years of related office experience.
– Knowledge of environmental policy preferred.
– Must be able to work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced and changing environment, with high attention to detail.
– Must have a demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and discretion with limited supervision and personal initiative.
– Must have a demonstrated ability to maintain positive rapport with co-workers and demonstrate excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
– Must possess excellent arithmetical facility, as well as writing and proofreading skills.
– Must possess superior administrative skills (typing, file organization, copying, etc.), and computer knowledge/skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, etc.).
– Must have a demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality and exercise discretion in sensitive matters.
– Must have the ability to grasp new tasks and issues quickly.
– Knowledge of federal regulatory and legislative process preferred.

### Location

This is a hybrid position that includes two days of remote work. Our current location is at 11th and K NW, and we will be moving at the end of the year to 13th and G, NW (above Metro Station).
