The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Policy Director to join its Policy Team. The Deputy Policy Director will contribute to and shape debates about America’s role in the world and support USGLC’s advocacy and policy efforts to advance the organization’s mission to educate and inspire policymakers and the American public on importance of America’s global leadership through diplomacy and development.

Responsibilities Include

The Deputy Policy Director will serve as a critical member of the USGLC policy team and work across departments in the following areas:  Influence policy debates in the global development and diplomacy field by representing the organization with officials in the Executive Branch, including the State Department, U.S. Agency for International Development, World Bank, Treasury, U.S. Development Finance Corporation and other development and foreign policy agencies; Shape “Impact 2020,” the USGLC’s bipartisan initiative focused on the 2020 presidential campaigns, including drafting materials on the policy agenda for the next Administration; Lead engagement with relevant foreign policy think tanks, international businesses and INGOs; Conduct analysis of foreign policy developments, including drafting and preparing written materials such as briefing memos and blog posts; Contribute to programming of exclusive and large scale policy-related events in Washington, DC; and Support the USGLC national field network in implementing an advocacy program in targeted states across the United States.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in a field related to international relations and global development, a deep understanding of foreign policy and commitment to learning the work of a diverse advocacy coalition, the ability to grow and build a broad network with influencers and policymakers inside and outside of government, a minimum of 5 years of program management experience, and the ability to manage projects independently within a collaborative cross-functional team environment. Excellent research, exceptional writing and communications, networking and organizational skills are required. Capitol Hill and/or Executive Branch experience a plus. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
