OPPORTUNITY
National 501c4 nonprofit organization seeks an enthusiastic professional to join our Communications Team as the Digital Communications Associate (DCA) at our Washington, D.C. office. The successful candidate will have a portfolio of original digital communications content to share. Exceptional candidates in other parts of the country may be considered. This position is represented by the United Steelworkers Local Union, 2022-22.

RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, the DCA is responsible for implementing compelling digital media campaigns that grow and maintain BGA’s digital audiences and that highlight and bring more attention to BGA’s federal and state initiatives. The DCA will be responsible for creation of digital content—including social posts, videos, email content—execute the organization’s social strategy, and monitor measures of success. In addition, the DCA will work closely with BGA communications staff to send and measure metrics of email campaigns. BGA is seeking an enthusiastic communications professional with a positive attitude and fresh perspective.
Essential duties of this role:
- Implement the organization’s digital efforts, including BGA’s social media channels and communications to email list, and execute the calendars of discrete campaigns for BGA around key priorities—with a focus on increasing engagement of current supporters and growing the organization’s supporter base;
- Create branding and compelling social content (with an emphasis on engaging posts and video content), update the website, execute digital advertising campaigns, monitor social media metrics, and build on efforts for list acquisition;
- Help oversee the creation and distribution of the organization’s quarterly newsletter;
- Implement digital campaigns (social, email, paid online media) and leveraging analytics to gauge performance and anticipate trends;
- Coordinate and oversee the execution of BGA’s social media and email calendar to maximize opportunities to highlight our work and grow our audiences and provide regular analytic and metric reports to communications leadership;
- Manage the implementation of email campaigns to increase engagement of supporters; and
- Other duties as needed.
Requirements
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated success in managing digital media and communications efforts that resulted in growth of social media audiences;
- Portfolio of original work, including videos and other social content you have generated;
- Familiarity and interest around the current issues of manufacturing, climate change, energy, infrastructure, and/or workers’ rights;
- Exhibit a positive and respectful manner with colleagues, partners, and allies;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and possess strong time management and project management skills;
- High ethical standards, sound judgment, and ability to maintain professional confidentiality;
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders within and outside of the organization—including writing, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills;
- Strong commitment to economic, racial, and environmental justice;
- A deep commitment to the mission of the BlueGreen Alliance;
- Ability to travel up to 10% for in-person meetings, organization retreats and stakeholder events;
- Ease with technology platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
EXPERIENCE
Required experience:
- Minimum one year of professional communications experience with an emphasis on social media, video content generation, public relations or related professions; and
- Minimum one year of experience working in a fast-paced advocacy organization or political campaign.
Preferred experience:
- Experience working with Labor Unions; and/or
- Experience working with environmental organizations.
COMPENSATION
A compensation package including competitive salary with annual COLA increases, generous paid time off and employer-funded benefits is available.
Salary: $80,000 yearly, exempt. BGA utilizes salary bands based on required experience and level of responsibility to ensure pay equity and transparency.
