Overview
This position is in the Office of Digital Transformation (ODT), Smithsonian Institution (SI). SI is a diverse museum and research complex dedicated to the increase and diffusion of knowledge. SI builds on its foundational mission by using digital tools and platforms to share its art, artifacts, research, and educational programs with millions in the U.S. and around the world who cannot visit its museums, galleries, libraries, or the National Zoological Park in person.
ODT is responsible for making SI a digitally empowered Institution that builds purposeful connections between the knowledge we share and the people we serve, inviting every household, classroom, and community around the globe on a lasting journey to explore, learn, and find meaning together. An integral part of this digital transformation is the implementation of a pan-institutional CRM solution.
The Smithsonian Institution’s Office of Digital Transformation (ODT) is looking for a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator. This role plays a key part of the Smithsonian’s CRM strategy and will bring the technical know-how to execute complex marketing strategies. This role will partner with communications and technology teams to develop, maintain, and enhance marketing automation via Marketing Cloud. This person will translate business requirements into a technology solution and implement that solution in an accurate, efficient, and reliable manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
Configure, implement, and maintain Smithsonian’s implementation of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including connections with other Salesforce components (e.g., Sales, Service, and Data Clouds), third-party integrations, and configuration and administration of multiple business units.
Design, test, build, and showcase data integrations, queries, automations, journeys, and reports.
Support development of Marketing Cloud Personalization components (templates, content zones, third-party integrations, triggers, etc.)
Create and manage email campaigns, customer journeys, and personalized content.
Collaborate with SI-wide digital engagement teams to develop digital proficiencies, shared services, digital engagement journeys, channels, and automations.
Manage Smithsonian’s Digital Marketing (Salesforce Marketing Cloud) processes, review governance and compliance in relation to digital communications and engagement.
Provide guidance on best practices and design patterns related to digital engagement, preference/opt-in handling, automation, testing and data management.
Stay up to date with the latest Salesforce Marketing Cloud releases, features, and industry best practices to continuously improve the marketing automation capabilities of the organization.
Qualification Requirements
Experience
Salesforce Marketing Cloud Admin certification.
Proficient experience with Marketing Cloud, including Journey Builder, Email Studio, and Automation Studio.
Strong understanding of marketing automation principles and best practices.
Experience with HTML/CSS, SQL, and AMPscript for email template customization.
Excellent analytical skills to measure and optimize campaign performance.
Detail-oriented with the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and manage multiple projects.
Experience with Sales Cloud/Salesforce Lightning/Salesforce CRM.
Preferred: Experience working in Nonprofit and/or Federal environments

All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or reaccredited institutions.
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
Qualifying coursework:
Computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
Applicants whose education was completed outside the United States must be deemed equivalent to higher education programs of U.S. institutions by an organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials.
