Position Overview
The position reports to the Marketing Manager and is responsible for supporting and executing engaging social media strategies across multiple platforms to elevate SNA’s visibility, engagement, and digital growth. This role will focus heavily on social media management, content creation, and implementation, while also providing support in graphic design and basic video editing.
The ideal candidate is creative, not afraid of trying something new, and has a strong understanding of digital trends and social media best practices. While social media content is the core of this role, proficiency in graphic design and light video editing are essential for creating cohesive and visually compelling content. The role also collaborates with staff from various Centers for various assigned marketing and communications projects.
Position Responsibilities
Digital Strategy
- With the guidance of the Manager, implement the digital content strategy for social media and video to amplify the organization’s reach, expand our audience, deepen the engagement with members and decision-makers, raise membership numbers, and increase brand awareness and event attendance.
- Research and update Center knowledge repository on best practices across content types, social algorithms, email design, social media, and video.
- Monitor the needs of SNA staff to understand their digital media needs and priorities and collaborate to align solutions to MarCom strategy.
- Research and suggest upgrades and additions to the SNA social media stack to improve SNA’s ability to reach and grow membership and audience.
- Coordinate assigned projects from initiation through completion to ensure outcomes are delivered on time and within designated budgets.
Social Media
- Shape the social media strategy with the guidance of the Manager.
- Serve as the main content administrator for SNA social media accounts and create content and execute and track all Association social media activities.
- Monitor and collaborate with SNF and advocacy teams on social media overlap and strategy and maintain the SNA Social Media calendar.
- Recommend and track benchmarks for individual channel performance, and experiment with tactics to improve, tracking and reporting on progress through weekly analytics reports.
- With the guidance of the Manager, write, edit, and approve social content, and lead live engagement activities on various platforms in alignment with the social media strategy.
- Implement approved social media advertising strategy, including paid ad campaigns, and recommend approaches to the Manager to maximize advertising revenue.
- Research and monitor hashtags and influencers in, or adjacent to, the school nutrition space; engaging where beneficial to SNA.
- Recommend the optimal campaign mix for impact (timing, content, channels) on various projects.
- Adapt to changing social media trends, best practices, and tools.
- Stay aware of social media best practices; regularly research and recommend enhancements, new tools, and new ideas to increase SNA’s brand awareness, visibility, and channel ownership.
Video Editing and Graphic Design
- Create videos as assigned for social media campaigns, blog posts, and web pages.
- Conceptualize and produce graphics for web, infographics, presentations, signage, annual reports, publications, and various other digital and print materials for assigned projects.
- Create and execute design concepts for assigned projects to maintain visual brand standards and continuity across print, web, and digital platforms, including the creation of reusable templates for SNA staff.
- Assist with designing collateral for the visual aspects of SNA events production.
Analytics
- Recommend benchmarks, KPIs, and metrics for social media and other assigned projects.
- Produce and analyze monthly and quarterly analytic reports and provide recommendations for adjustments for the Manager to inform strategy.
- Provide campaign-based, monthly, and quarterly reports for SNA leadership on defined benchmarks and metrics.
Position Relationships
- Work with SNA staff.
- May work with outside vendors, contractors, and consultants on specific projects as needed.
Supervision
- Receives general supervision and direction from the position’s supervisor.
- Exercises some independent judgment and discretion.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, etc.) or high school diploma with additional training and/or professional work experience.
- Digital content certification preferred but not required.
Experience
- Three years or more of work in a business environment with relevant responsibilities in the specialized area.
- Exposure to social media advertising sales and implementing a revenue-generating social media advertising strategy to meet specific market needs.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate social media activities and special events.
- Experience managing a project to completion and working in a project-centric environment with multiple competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with an ability to research and identify solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work independently and as part of a team with the ability to draw connections between day-to-day job responsibilities and the goals of the organization.
- Excellent writing and editing skills for drafting, editing, and proofing correspondence, emails, presentations, reports, summaries, and other communications for a wide variety of internal and external audiences.
- Detail-oriented, with organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with different timelines in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating workloads and changing priorities.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability and patience to work with and provide customer service to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Exposure to managing projects, including planning, establishing timelines and milestones, tracking and executing deliverables, and closing the project.
- Demonstrated experience using a database to access customer or member information, conducting research using the internet, and proficiency in Microsoft tools such as Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as virtual meeting platforms like Zoom.
- Excellent skills and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (asset management, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro), Canva, and in-depth knowledge of social media platforms, WordPress, email marketing platforms, and social media platform optimization.
