This position leads the GSK U.S. patient advocacy efforts in our vaccine business. GSK partners with diverse not-for-profit groups including Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs), Public Health Groups, and disease-agnostic not-for-profits that progress common objectives and help empower people to understand the positive impact of vaccines in supporting healthy communities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic engagement plans that support GSK priorities.
- Identify, profile, and prioritize Patient Advocacy Groups, Coalitions, and Public Health Groups, and develop strategy for engagement in a dynamic landscape with key stakeholder groups to enrich partnerships and reflect needs of the business.
- Own, manage, and evolve relationships and partnerships, including information-sharing and other opportunities for engagement around shared objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional GSK teams, including Government Affairs, Public Policy, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Health Equity, Communications, and Legal and Compliance, to build and execute a long-term strategic plan for proactive engagement.
- Represent GSK in key coalitions to share insights and demonstrate the organization’s commitment to prevention and public health.
- Raise awareness at the Federal and State level of the benefits of broad access. Advocate for reducing the barriers to broad access to innovative medicines.
- Compliantly manage an extensive grants and sponsorship portfolio.
Why You?
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree – BA/BS
- 4+ years of experience working directly in the Patient Advocacy space developing advocacy and engagement strategies within a biopharmaceutical organization.
- 4+ years of experience in the following responsibilities:
- Leading/Conducting Patient Councils, Advisory Boards, and Focus Groups.
- Leading/Conducting Interviews with patient stakeholder communities to glean, curate, and socialize patient insights.
- 4+ years of experience working in the US healthcare system and leading activities to support access to innovative therapeutics, including developing individualized strategies to shape respective landscapes.
- Ability to travel domestically up to 25% (Travel may include some weekends).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Policy, or another related field.
- Demonstrated understanding of industry trends and best practices in patient advocacy and engagement.
- Demonstrated understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience working with underrepresented communities. Understanding of cultural competencies.
- Commitment to understanding and following all relevant guidelines for appropriate interactions.
- Strong communication and external engagement skills, including public speaking and presentations to senior leaders.
- Agile mindset with the ability to adjust plans based on internal and external shifts.
- Experience driving initiatives through a highly matrixed environment.
- Proven cross-functional engagement skills.
Salary and Benefits
The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $166,838 to $225,722, taking into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level, and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share-based long-term incentive program, which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include healthcare and other insurance benefits (for employees and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
