Summary

With the Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy, this position will help lead Daiichi Sankyo’s public policy approach to ensure patient access to our current portfolio and robust pipeline of medicines. This position will identify key issues in legislation and proposed rules and guidance that could impact the company and patients, and work to mitigate risks and harms while also proactively pursuing opportunities to ensure patient access. This role will influence the external policy landscape so that the value of Daiichi Sankyo’s pipeline, portfolio, and business is protected and enhanced so that we can bring innovative medicines to patients who need them.

Responsibilities

  • As part of the Government Affairs Public Policy team, track, review, and analyze proposed rules and legislation to assess impact to Daiichi Sankyo and patient access to medicines. Summarize key issues and disseminate analysis to internal stakeholders, while incorporating the expertise and input of colleagues across the company
  • Provide expertise to Government Affairs Public Policy team to identify mitigations and opportunities to shape legislation, proposed rules, and draft guidance. Research and develop positions on key public policy issues with the potential to impact Daiichi Sankyo’s business and patients. Collaborate with colleagues across Daiichi Sankyo to promote its overall business, legislative, and policy goals.
  • Develop materials for use in engagement with external stakeholders (Congress, federal agencies, patient and provider groups, etc.) as well as for internal education on key policy developments and issues.
  • Engage with trade associations (PhRMA, HINJ) on priority issues, tracking public policy developments and working to shape industry’s broader positioning. Under the supervision of the Head of Government Affairs, help to support U.S. CEO in his role as PhRMA Board Member.
  • Together with the Government Affairs Public Policy team and internal business leaders, prioritize public policy issues and develop and implement strategy to elevate Daiichi Sankyo’s interests.
  • Other assignments and responsibilities as assigned to support Government Affairs Public Policy team and/or the business in other areas, as needed, to move Daiichi Sankyo goals forward.

Qualifications: Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education Qualifications (from an accredited college or university)

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • JD preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • 10 or More Years Combined policy and/or legislative experience related to pharmaceuticals or healthcare required
  • 10 or More Years Recent experience with government, trade association, think tank, or pharmaceutical company required
  • Expertise in Medicare, Medicaid, 340B, and/or commercial insurance market required
  • Strong knowledge of federal legislative and rulemaking processes; experience researching and analyzing complex public policy issues required
  • Expertise in oncology and physician-administered medicines preferred

Travel

Ability to travel up to 20% Travel for business meetings as necessary; optimal candidate is located in Washington DC or Basking Ridge NJ areas
