Overview

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s largest small business advocacy organization, seeks a Director of Research and Policy Analysis to join its Research team.

Responsibilities

The Director of Research and Policy Analysis will design and conduct comprehensive research studies and surveys focused on the impacts of state and federal policies affecting small businesses. The position will also develop surveys and produce reports on various areas of business operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyzing research and data from external sources to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for small businesses.
  • Producing high-quality research papers, reports, and policy briefs on small business policy issues and business operations that effectively communicate findings to diverse audiences.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with academics, business associations, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders in the small business community.
  • Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ensuring work outcomes meet or exceed productivity and quality standards.
  • Demonstrating professionalism, diplomacy, confidentiality, initiative, and sound judgment.
  • Working both independently and as part of a cooperative team environment while adhering to company and department policies.
  • Performing additional duties as needed.

Salary Range

$133,000 – $140,000

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree in Economics, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant research experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS) and data visualization tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends affecting small businesses, along with a passion for supporting entrepreneurial initiatives.
