Job Opportunity: Federal Policy Manager

Lyft is looking for an experienced Federal Policy Manager to join our US Federal Policy team based in Washington, DC. This individual will engage in policy advocacy and strategy development on a range of policy issues interfacing the tech and transportation industry. This position will require some travel and evening availability and reports to the Senior Director of Federal and International Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and advocate for policies that support the growth of rideshare and micro-mobility transportation.
  • Develop strategies for engaging with federal legislators, staff, and administration officials to advance Lyft’s public policy priorities.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal staff to develop public policy strategies that advance Lyft’s operations and business interests.
  • Inform company leadership and lines of business on relevant legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Maintain relationships with industry trade associations, third-party stakeholders, and relevant policy coalitions.
  • Track and respond to congressional inquiries and administration requests on policy issues.
  • Manage external federal consultants to support Lyft advocacy on Capitol Hill and with the current federal administration and regulatory agencies.
  • Plan and support visits of the CEO and other company executives to meet with federal stakeholders, expanding thought leadership and the brand of the company.
  • Represent Lyft in all interactions with federal legislators and officials in meetings and public events.

Experience

  • 5+ years of congressional experience, either in the House of Representatives or Senate.
  • Established relationships on Capitol Hill, including with key Republican members and within key committees of jurisdiction.
  • Experience advocating and partnering with the Executive branch of government.
  • Superior organizational skills and a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
  • Natural connector and relationship builder.
  • Law or Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
  • Ability to thrive and be responsive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter; intrinsically motivated and a good teammate.

Hybrid Work Schedule

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — team members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays, and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

Salary Information

The expected base pay range for this position in the Washington, D.C. area is $139,000-$173,750. Salary ranges are dependent on various factors, including qualifications, experience, and geographic location. This range does not include potential equity offerings, bonuses, or benefits.
