Essential Responsibilities

The Manager, Communications and Marketing will join the George W. Bush Presidential Center to lead efforts to attract, grow, engage, and retain our audiences, positioning the Bush Center as a destination for compelling programming and impactful experiences.

This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to attract and acquire new customers, designing and launching multi-channel campaigns, analyzing performance data, and optimizing tactics to maximize audience growth, retention, and achieve business objectives. To do this effectively, this person will be a creative and impactful writer who can craft content that fosters meaningful connections with audiences while advancing the Bush Center’s mission. This position is a non-remote position at the Bush Center in Dallas.

The specific responsibilities include:

Audience Acquisition and Retention

  • In collaboration with the Deputy Director, Marketing and Communications and the Director, George W. Bush Presidential Museum, lead audience acquisition strategy for the George W. Bush Presidential Center.
  • Identify opportunities to reach new audiences, both locally and nationally, and increase engagement.
  • Implement industry-standard customer journeys throughout the audience lifecycle to maximize conversion and minimize attrition.
  • Develop best-in-class acquisition marketing campaign approaches for each key customer segment.
  • Develop and execute advertising plans (digital, print, and outdoor) that advance the goals of extending the Bush Center’s work to new audiences.
  • Measure the effectiveness of audience acquisition strategies, from lead to conversion.

Branding and Messaging

  • Create compelling and effective copy for marketing materials, such as website content, ads, and social media posts.
  • Understand Bush Center key messaging and branding.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Development, to create cohesive marketing materials.
  • Review print and digital collateral with a fine eye for detail, ensuring branding and message consistency.

Campaign Development and Execution

  • Develop compelling and insightful communication briefs and manage/execute high-impact marketing assets to reach various audiences.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Director, Marketing and Communications to utilize digital marketing tools like paid advertising, social media, SEO, and email marketing to reach potential customers.
  • Own reporting of acquisition marketing metrics to optimize campaigns for future success.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in strategic planning, marketing, advertising, media buying, and community relations, with a track record of demonstrated growth.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with digital advertising platforms and technologies, including but not limited to Google AdWords, Meta Business Suite, and LinkedIn, and their tracking techniques.
  • Experience media buying in a local/regional setting.
  • Strong written communication skills, with a knack for taking complex ideas and making them accessible and compelling to a broad range of audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to the highest standards of quality.
  • Familiarity with AP Style.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey strategic, technical, and functional concepts to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders and constituents.
