Salary: $67,000 – $84,000
The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS), a Washington, DC-based trade association, represents the nation’s nearly one million workers in the plastics industry. PLASTICS seeks a Manager of Communications and Digital Production to manage the technical and digital production of materials to promote PLASTICS’ messaging, member engagement, and public affairs strategies in alignment with the Association’s communication goals and marketing efforts. The manager will enhance digital communications, including content for the PositivesofPlastics.com website, produce content that promotes the positive attributes of plastic and the entire plastics industry, and ensure the successful oversight of PLASTICS’ audio-visual studio needs.
Responsibilities:
- Manage online and live webinars with the Marketing team, including assisting with the reception of video and audio subjects.
- Schedule meetings with recording subjects and PLASTICS members involved in audiovisual captures, including the management and scheduling of initial group pre-meetings and gatherings leading up to event capture.
- Support pre-recordings necessary for production to ensure top quality at live capture, including providing pre-briefing timelines and run-of-show documentation.
- Manage all external media recordings through the Communications department for retrieval and cataloging of digital audio-visual captures, ensuring confidential oversight of ‘off-the-record’ recordings.
- Contribute to the promotion of content such as 15-30 second spots and digital advertisements.
- Create in-house audio and video content for promotion across PLASTICS’ mediums.
- Report on all PLASTICS-contracted software, such as ‘gather,’ and maintain billing and log-in records.
Oversight of the PLASTICS Audiovisual Studio:
- Perform weekly check-ups for equipment wellness and efficiency of recording mechanisms.
- Ensure a capable, successful technical production studio is ready for use at all times for the creation of digital products for Association promotion.
- Manage current equipment, identify updated tech needs, track malfunctioning or outdated hardware, and maintain records for responsible equipment disposal.
- Oversee the studio schedule and coordinate airtime with PLASTICS’ Executive Leadership, Marketing, and Communication team.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a related position or technical audiovisual field with a trade association, public relations agency, or similar industry.
- Experience with digital creation, digital platforms, and promotional campaigns.
- Experience working in production and successful management of audiovisual needs with previous organizations.
- Applicable digital, communications, or public affairs certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic digital and marketing promotional principles as well as video/audio/visual production.
- A generous sense of humor and openness to inclusive public relations, bipartisan understanding of broad messaging campaigns, and a willingness to promote diverse ideas.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse stakeholder audiences.
- Polished presentation and customer service abilities, especially when interacting with association members, executives, and external stakeholders.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail, problem-solving, organizational, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and work on a variety of projects, adjust to changing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results.
