Manager, Corporate Affairs – Obesity and Related Conditions

What You Will Do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will be an integral part of Amgen’s Obesity and Related Conditions team, bringing corporate affairs expertise. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a hard-working team, harnessing your creative spirit and project management skills to implement integrated communications plans and initiatives supporting Amgen in this fast-evolving and high-visibility therapeutic category.

To achieve their goals, the Manager will collaborate with numerous internal cross-functional teams and agency partners to deliver high-impact communications, grounded in meaningful insights and data, through a range of internal and external channels. This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Corporate Affairs, operating as a self-starter while working on a collaborative and impactful team.

This is a remote position based in the US, with the expectation of occasional travel to Thousand Oaks Headquarters and key events.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and implementation of integrated communications strategies that support the cross-functional Obesity and Related Conditions team by effectively engaging internal and external audiences
  • Manage a wide variety of ongoing communications initiatives with a focus on project management
  • Lead research and manage tactical execution in support of the communication strategy for priority initiatives, including key data milestones, medical meetings, DSE initiatives, and more
  • Project manage multiple critical communications initiatives simultaneously, including overseeing material review processes
  • Develop and partner on creating multimedia content and manage multiple layers of review and distribution
  • Collaborate with the enterprise communications team on priority employee communications and external communications, including Amgen.com and social media content
  • Lead metrics reporting around key communications initiatives
  • Support local affiliates to ensure narrative is consistently and effectively communicated across the global footprint
  • Stay abreast of integrated communications and social media trends to share key insights and identify opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree
    Or
  • Master’s degree and 2 years of communications and/or public relations and/or corporate affairs and/or marketing experience
    Or
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of communications and/or public relations and/or corporate affairs and/or marketing experience
    Or
  • Associate’s degree and 8 years of communications and/or public relations and/or corporate affairs and/or marketing experience
    Or
  • High school diploma / GED and 10 years of communications and/or public relations and/or corporate affairs and/or marketing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dedication to our mission to serve patients
  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in public relations and/or communications, specifically within the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare sectors (strongly preferred, in-house or agency)
  • Outstanding writing, editing, communication, and presentation skills, with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in social media strategy, social content writing, and visual asset ideation
  • Familiarity with monitoring and analytics tools and platforms, and developing relevant insights reports
  • Self-starter and team player with excellent interpersonal skills; commitment to hard work and excellence
  • Ability to think quickly, analytically, and creatively in a dynamic environment
  • Experience working at or managing public relations agency partners and vendor relationships
  • Ability to interface professionally with corporate leaders and external stakeholders

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
