ABOUT THIS ROLE
Audible (a subsidiary of Amazon) is seeking an exceptionally bright, driven, articulate, well-connected individual for the role of Manager, Public Relations. The Manager, Public Relations will report to the Director, Public Relations within the Global Corporate Affairs team and brings daily interaction with senior executives and the media. This is a cross-functional role that will work across many departments and most closely with marketing, experiential, events, talent relations and social media on Audible’s widespread consumer publicity efforts.

ABOUT YOU
You have an understanding of the evolving media landscape and changing consumer appetites, superior communication and presentation skills (both written and oral), an interest in building an evolving team strategy on a quickly growing original content publicity team, and a passion for Audible’s disruptive, high-energy technology-driven culture and its innovative audio entertainment. You are able to spearhead end-to-end content PR campaigns independently, complete complex tasks and projects quickly, and react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround. You have a strong network of existing entertainment industry relationships, and deep connections with members of the press and within the creative community. You have a strong background working with talent and influencers, a fluent knowledge of the entertainment ecosystem, and experience leading multiple projects in an organized and timely fashion. You are able to work successfully in a team environment, build effective working relationships inside and outside of the organization, and possess acumen to work through challenging and ambiguous situations. You have the ability to pivot based on business needs without compromising quality of work or speed.

As a Public Relations Manager, you will…

  • Conceptualize, research, and execute creative consumer PR outreach strategies and campaigns resulting in frequent positive press attention for Audible with an emphasis on our original audio content releases (which include podcasts, genre-bending audio entertainment, audiobooks, etc.)
  • Independently own project campaign responsibilities, pitching earned media content with a focus on features while proactively managing widespread media relations
  • Orchestrate marketing communications plans leveraging innovative strategies supporting cross functional work with the goal of creating dynamic press opportunities
  • Partner with events team to create and execute large-scale activations in promotion of our original content
  • Build strategies to ideate and activate on opportunities within the marketing communications space as it specifically relates to priority content campaign activations/stunts
  • Advocate and expand on a holistic approach across content teams, creating synergies and efficiencies and establishing close alignment with key stakeholders managing events, talent relations and content marketing
  • Collaborate with multiple internal teams on overall Awards efforts and priorities, while engaging in ongoing dialogues with key awards press
  • Elevate and expand talent relations activities to engage with influential talent/influencers resulting in consumer communications opportunities including, creating tangible talent-friendly Audible opportunities and collaborating cross-functionally for media-facing opportunities such as conferences, panels, speaking engagements, interviews, etc.
  • Maintain a calendar of key events and identify new event opportunities for the Audible brand and our priority content

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 5+ years of experience in a publicity capacity
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Experience working on and promoting some or all of these areas: TV/Film, Audio, Tech, Music, Theater, and Publishing

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Extensive public relations, talent relations and entertainment events experience
  • Knowledge of the entertainment industry and/or experience therein
  • Deep understanding of pop culture, as well as execution of dynamic content campaigns
  • Pre-existing strong media and entertainment industry relationships
  • Ability to independently run original content communications campaigns from start to finish – taking initiative, defining goals clearly, and remaining results-oriented in the face of obstacles
  • Passion for the entertainment field, and for Audible’s core mission to improve lives through storytelling, the company’s commitment to urban revitalization, and its disruptive, technology-driven culture
  • Comfort and ease working with various teams and navigating overlapping responsibilities without conflict
  • Organized and detail-orientated with strong project management skills
  • An established track record of outstanding judgment in fast-paced, high-profile environment, particularly in dealing with time-sensitive, confidential and/or controversial matters
  • Oral and written communication—exceptional writing skills, varies writing style to meet needs of project; speaks clearly and persuasively; possesses ability to engage others; actively participates in meetings
  • Strategic thinking – the ability to simultaneously focus on holistic thinking and tactical results
  • Research skills—ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, present evaluations, and summarize key findings precisely and succinctly

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $61,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $147,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
