Manager, Science Policy & Research Affairs

Responsibilities:

Analyzing Member Scientist Participation:

  • Analyze member scientist participation in Society activities.
  • Identify areas for improvement and initiatives to increase scientific engagement.
  • Ensure alignment with Board-approved objectives and key results.

Staff Support:

  • Provide staff support to RACC.
  • Develop agendas, draft minutes, coordinate workflow, and establish/maintain collaborations.
  • Implement activities to support the Society’s member research communities.

Advocacy and Monitoring:

  • Participate in advocacy activities.
  • Monitor and report on developments at research funding agencies and US Congress.
  • Identify areas of opportunity and work with members to prioritize, establish, and advance positions.

Funding and Task Forces:

  • Lead efforts to increase funding for the National Institutes of Health.
  • Manage the Society’s work on climate change and endocrine health.
  • Manage member task forces to implement projects supporting the scientific community.

Communication:

  • Communicate policy news and Society activities to members.
  • Utilize Society communication vehicles such as articles for newsletters and magazines.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Coordinate data gathering and analyze metrics related to member scientist engagement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other Society departments.

Policy Development:

  • Draft policy memos and reports for staff and members on science-related issues, policy, and advocacy.

Other Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in biological sciences with a focus on bench/laboratory research.
  • Postdoctoral experience in an endocrine-related field preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with NIH policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Location:

This position is located in Washington, DC, with a flexible, hybrid work environment. Employees are expected to work from the office at least 2 days per week.
