Manager of State Public Policy

The Manager of State Public Policy within Lucid’s External Affairs division is a critical role that leads advocacy of the company’s policy positions in western and northwestern states. This individual will develop and implement strategies to work with policymakers at the state and local level to enhance market access and advance policies which allow Lucid’s core technologies to flourish. A key aspect of this position will be collaborating with our technical charging team, regulated utilities, and Utility Commissions to advance V2X functionality and favorable market conditions. This role will also serve as a consultant to other internal business units to problem solve issues and raise advance notice of regulatory or legislative alterations affecting business priorities. This position will report to Director of State Public Policy.

The Role

  • Proactively advance our policy agenda by leading advocacy with governors, state legislators and staff, state regulatory agencies, local governments, community groups and business associations.
  • Develop and execute strategies for state and local engagements and manage external consultants.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to inform business decision-making and broaden our policy influence in the areas of electric vehicles, charging solutions (including V2X functionality), Automation, data privacy, workforce, etc.
  • Prepare, review, and submit verbal and written testimony and related documents.
  • Build coalitions with industry partners, NGOs, community leaders to enhance policy initiatives.
  • Requires travel up to 25%

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of substantive policy and advocacy work in the automotive sector or associated EV industries (Charging, Battery, Solar, etc.)
  • Excellent communications skills; the ability to be equally persuasive relaying complex information in a concise manner verbally as well as written format for external and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently as well as in a team environment.
  • A proven track record of learning new concepts quickly and prioritizing workflows to meet demanding deadlines.
  • Positive and constructive mindset; the ability to inspire team members and create lasting impressions with external figures.

Salary Range

The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual): $132,100—$193,710 USD

Additional Compensation and Benefits

Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)
