MarComm agency client is 20-year-old independent marketing, advertising and public relations agency with consulting roots. They leverage their craft to impart a different perspective, dismantle barriers and help clients to market their services to create a better world.
PR Specialist will manage the PR efforts for various clients, including building relationships with media, community and influencers and orchestrating activations. Clients include tourism and government agencies.

Background:
- Hands-on PR experience. Number of years of experience is not as important as candidate’s eagerness to do the work
- Previous experience working in a PR agency preferred but not a must
- Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, especially in AP-style
- Commitment to continuous learning
- Thrives working in an integrated agency setting- Contributes PR & writing expertise for clients and agency staff. Enjoys working solo and on group projects.
- Understands challenges and opportunities in working with multicultural audiences
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
- Can use PR tracking tools including Meltwater, Cision, etc.
Breakdown of time spent:
- 30%: Manage clients – relationships, billings, strategy, communications and counsel
- 30%: Do the work. Be hands on. Write & edit in AP-style (press releases, pitch emails, fact sheets, flyers, website content, one-pagers, byline articles, talking points, etc.)
- 30%: Pitch and develop national/regional/local media relationships, monitor placements, track results via Cision, monitor placement value with Meltwater.
- 10%: Administrative tasks and attend tourism related events
PR Specialist Responsibilities:
- Plan, delegate and execute public relations campaigns, activations and media pitches.
- Develop media relations strategy, seek high-level placements in print, broadcast, online and non-traditional media.
- Multicultural outreach: 70% to Spanish media, 30% general press
- Develop public relations and communications assets including, but not limited to, press releases, pitch emails, fact sheets, flyers, website content, one-pagers, byline articles, talking points, etc. (AP-Style required)
- Manage and enhance client relationships including, but not limited to, email correspondence, leading meetings (virtual and in-person), phone calls, development of client-facing presentations, etc.
- Participate in brainstorms for activations, events, themes and pitches
- Direct social media team to engage audiences across traditional and new media.
- Manage and oversee media inquiries, interview coordination and placements.
- Monitor media for placements, tracks earned media results (UMVs, viewership, listenership, publicity value, etc.)
- Create and/or finalize client-ready reports and recaps demonstrating the results of campaigns
