Meta Public Policy Manager, External Affairs
Meta is seeking a Public Policy Manager, External Affairs to advance Meta’s relationships with key external partners on both public policy and product policy issues. In this role, you will work across the breadth of Meta’s public policy issues, cultivating relationships with think tanks and advocacy organizations at the federal and state levels to inform Meta’s public policy development and support a diverse landscape of policy ideas that advance a climate of innovation.
The manager will facilitate information sharing between third-party groups and Meta staff and will develop long-term partnerships to advance research and advocacy. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in emerging technologies, along with a detailed understanding of the broader issue landscape affecting today’s technology industry. They will also thrive in a fast-paced environment and share our vision of building the future of human connection and the technology that makes it possible.
Responsibilities
- Attend local events, with occasional travel to conferences elsewhere in the U.S., sponsored by relevant stakeholders, and represent the company’s interests.
- Work with the policy team to advance Meta’s policy priorities with third-party groups, particularly on artificial intelligence, privacy, emerging technologies, and energy policy.
- Cultivate research on questions relating to emerging technologies, considering not just today’s issues but also those the industry will face as technology progresses.
- Stay up to date with the work of third-party groups, including think tanks and civil society organizations, and share insights with relevant internal partners to inform Meta’s policy priorities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with third-party stakeholders to educate them on Meta’s strategies for product development.
- Work with internal partners to arrange roundtables and discussions with third-party experts to advise Meta’s product development.
- Stay informed on third-party research and share relevant studies with Meta’s product teams.
- Collaborate with numerous internal teams, including Communications, Public Affairs, Legal, and Federal and State Policy, to set strategies for key policy campaigns and product launches.
- Track progress against key priorities and maintain records of engagements and communications with third-party organizations.
- Monitor public commentary from third-party stakeholders on key issues.
- Complete administrative tasks related to budget tracking and charitable contributions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, policy, law, computer science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in government relations, public policy research, and/or stakeholder management in the technology sector.
- Experience executing cross-functional policy campaigns domestically and/or internationally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Existing relationships with technologists, government stakeholders, and/or research communities focused on emerging technologies.
- Experience handling escalations and time-sensitive issues.
- Ability to articulate policies and their reasoning to diverse audiences effectively.
- Experience with extended reality (XR) technologies, including Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and underlying technologies such as computer vision, spatial audio, and haptic feedback.
Compensation
$119,000/year to $177,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only and do not include bonuses, equity, or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base compensation, Meta offers comprehensive benefits.
