About the Role

Uber is seeking a Public Policy Manager focused on Sustainability, with a particular emphasis on policies and regulations that promote transport electrification and delivery packaging waste reduction. This role will be instrumental in shaping and advocating for policies that support Uber’s sustainability goals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and promoting innovative solutions for sustainable delivery packaging.

What You’ll Do

  • Track legislative, regulatory, and broader trends around sustainable packaging. Use these insights to shape Uber’s approach to sustainable packaging on our platform.
  • Work closely with cross-functional, global teams to develop and communicate Uber’s positions on sustainability in regulatory submissions, stakeholder meetings, and other external-facing convenings.
  • Represent Uber on issues of sustainability and packaging at public events and conferences.
  • Maintain strong relationships with third-party organizations, including advocates, think tanks, academic organizations, and other industry peers. Gather insights to inform Uber’s policies and product features.
  • Facilitate events, roundtables, or research stimulating expert-level discussions that drive meaningful progress.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, with 7+ years of experience in public policy, advocacy, tech, or government affairs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree
  • Proven track record of engaging with policymakers and influencing public policy in the sustainability domain.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to distill complex ideas into clear, concise language.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to conduct detailed policy analysis and develop strategic recommendations.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to operate effectively in an international and cross-functional environment.
  • A self-starter who is highly adaptable as well as calm under pressure.

Compensation and Benefits

  • For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $152,000 per year – USD $169,000 per year.
  • For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $152,000 per year – USD $169,000 per year.
  • For Washington, DC-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $152,000 per year – USD $169,000 per year.
  • For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber’s bonus program, and may be offered an equity award and other types of compensation. You will also be eligible for various benefits. More details can be found at the following link.

Office Expectations

Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Uber’s cultural identity. Unless formally approved to work fully remotely, Uber expects employees to spend at least half of their work time in their assigned office. For certain roles, such as those based at green-light hubs, employees are expected to be in-office for 100% of their time.
