Tuknik Government Services, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Communications Specialist with a current active Secret Security Clearance to support TGS and our government customer in Falls Church, VA.

This position will be in direct support of the CDAO’s Office of Public Affairs and Communications. It requires an experienced individual with demonstrated strategic communications and public affairs experience, a superior professional demeanor, and the ability to manage a wide variety of day-to-day responsibilities to ensure program success.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties

May include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct stakeholder analysis to define and assess key partners across the Government Customer’s organization, teaming partners, and key external stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement a communications plan for the Government Customer to define key communications vehicles, messaging, and key engagement metrics. This plan will identify strengths, weaknesses, audiences, and stakeholders, and create key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the communications strategy.
  • Develop and implement a branding strategy to help define and strengthen the Government Customer’s brand within the organization and externally.
  • Analyze messages and processes to ensure communication for the organization is effective, efficient, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Develop various communication deliverables, including messages from leadership to varying audiences, draft responses to customer questions, and talking points for key events.
  • Design, develop, and maintain presentations for internal and external communications, including speaker preparation for important meetings. Align content with speaker voice and audience needs.
  • Provide technical writing, copy-editing, and proofreading of various communications, liaising with Subject Matter Experts to interpret, summarize, analyze, and visually represent data and messages.
  • Collaborate with Communications Team members to create superior work products.
  • Assist with vetting information and materials with leadership, senior staff, stakeholders, and other offices as needed throughout the organization.
  • Assist in producing infographics and illustrations to support client materials and develop corresponding digital communications products (e.g., fact sheets, presentations, press statements).
  • Assist in creating social media content, particularly for Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Develop, implement, and update strategic communications plans, including event promotion, stakeholder engagement plans, program communications, and social media campaigns.
  • Track performance metrics and report on emergent trends and new opportunities to engage stakeholders.
  • Engage in independent research to contextualize and supplement information for presentations and briefings, including background research on speaking engagements and audience analysis.
  • Provide planning and logistical support for meetings, forums, and training sessions, and track the effectiveness of these events.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience providing communications support for a large, complex organization.
  • Experience developing communications plans and products for Federal Government customers.
  • Experience identifying communications channels and priorities for an organization.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare, present, and support briefs for senior leaders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of managing competing demands.
  • Confidence and energy when speaking in public, on virtual platforms, or over the phone.
  • Ability to brief leaders with little notice and preparation.
  • Strong writing skills, capable of creating various communication products (e.g., brochures, fact sheets, reports, presentations, briefs, white papers, executive talking points, speeches, newsletters, blogs) that resonate with target audiences.
  • Experience developing and editing presentations, reports, and strategic messages to explain technical information to varying audiences (from novice to expert).
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Google Docs.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.

Security Pre-Requisite

To be considered, candidates must have a current/active SECRET security clearance and be upgradable to TOP SECRET/SCI.

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment with a noise level that is mostly low to moderate. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position, and involves moderate noise levels. The incumbent is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The workload may require sitting for extended periods.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
