### Position Summary

The Senior Manager of Communications oversees communications projects and campaigns that support AHIP’s vision and mission. This position supports media and strategies for AHIP’s national conferences, drives member communications projects and programs, and develops internal and external communications resources.

### Essential Duties and Responsibilities

– Creates and executes successful communications campaigns and ensures consistent messaging across AHIP’s communications forums.
– Initiates timely responses to reporter inquiries and builds strong relationships with reporters.
– Creates and publishes compelling, high-quality content to drive critical messages, as determined by organizational priorities.
– Manages the flow of outgoing content to help ensure AHIP is continuously part of and driving the health care conversation.
– Implements an editorial calendar to manage content and plan specific, timely advocacy campaigns.
– Closely monitors news and events to assess the need for and carries out rapid response efforts in coordination with the full Public Affairs and Media Relations team.
– Proposes and executes strategies and tactics to help build a positive reputation for the health insurance provider industry.
– Guides and influences AHIP subject-matter experts and internal stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and storytelling.
– Supports the execution of campaigns and communication plans that advance industry positions.
– Assists the Senior Vice President and Director while working with other members of the Public Affairs department on additional communications and advocacy projects.
– Stays informed and educated on the latest media and consumer engagement best practices to improve AHIP’s ability to connect with key stakeholders.
– Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

### Minimum Education and Experience Required

– Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
– Minimum of 3-4 years of communications experience.
– Understanding of health care issues preferred.

### Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
