Position Summary
Senior Analyst
The Senior Analyst will report directly to the Associate Director of Strategic initiatives. They will work in partnership with community-based organizations to support advocacy campaigns that advance racial and economic equity, focusing on L.A. city. The Senior Analyst will collaborate with various Catalyst California programmatic teams, including Political Voice, Equity in Community Investments, Reimagine Justice & Safety, and Educational Equity. Key responsibilities include participating in and managing coalitions, building relationships with stakeholders, conducting research, and contributing to L.A. City policy and systems change campaigns.
The successful applicant must have a strong commitment to social and racial justice, documented project management skills, experience overseeing multiple streams of work, and a record of involvement in racial justice/systems change campaigns.
Specific Responsibilities
- Support strategic development of policy campaigns and initiatives.
- Serve as a primary liaison for relationship development with community partners, elected officials, and strategic allies.
- Provide support for the Strategic Initiatives team’s projects, including virtual and in-person meetings, webinars, and presentations.
- Draft and edit presentation and communication materials, including slide decks, memoranda, and research briefs.
- Conduct online research to support the development of L.A. city policy and advocacy agendas.
- Support project implementation and management for current and emerging Strategic Initiatives efforts.
- Participate in organization-wide planning, development, and communications activities.
Qualifications
Candidate Profile, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience managing coalitions and campaigns.
- Extensive knowledge of the L.A. city landscape.
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing racial and economic justice.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong writing skills for various target audiences.
- Self-starter, detail-oriented, and flexible.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent computer skills, including internet research, MS Office, Google Docs, Google Drive, and Zoom.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree preferred.
- 4-8 years of experience in civil rights, public policy, or community-based advocacy.
- Experience in L.A. city policy campaigns and/or government preferred.
- Demonstrated experience conducting public policy research on racial and economic justice issues.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary
The base salary range for this position is $77,500-$90,000, with final compensation determined based on skills, education, and experience. Pay equity is a priority.
