### Calvert Street Group Job Opportunity: Strategic Communications Manager

Calvert Street Group is seeking applicants for a Strategic Communications Manager. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong interpersonal skills. Additionally, the right candidate will have at least five years of experience in public relations, mass communications, or a related field. This role offers the exciting opportunity to work directly with the firm’s Senior Director of Strategic Communications and engage with land-use public affairs campaigns.

### Responsibilities

– Assist the Senior Director of Strategic Communications with all strategic communications matters
– Generate website and social media content for both Calvert Street and its clients, including copy, photos, and videos
– Work with Calvert Street’s digital team to maintain an internal content calendar
– Edit copy for advertising, marketing materials, proposals, client-facing communications, as well as scripts for phone communications and copy for direct mail advertising
– Use monitoring platforms such as Cision, Meltwater, Muck Rack, and/or browsing tools such as Google Alerts
– Compile periodic media monitoring reports
– Edit visual materials, leveraging photography and videography skills
– Represent Calvert Street at client meetings, assist with client expectation management, and present information to clients in a clear, factual way

### Requirements

– Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant field, e.g., journalism, mass communications, public relations, English, or political science
– At least five years of experience working in communications, public relations, or a related field
– Demonstrated capability in strategic thinking, research, and the ability to crystallize complex issues into clear, persuasive messages which achieve our client’s objectives
– The ability to demonstrate excellent writing skills and provide examples of personally authored press releases, published articles, memos, briefing documents or other written works that show proficiency in written communications
– A working knowledge of media relations and social media (both organic and paid), with demonstrated examples of successful earned media placement and/or pitches to journalists
– A familiarity with the Associated Press style book is a plus
– The ability to edit visual materials utilizing Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop or InDesign) and/or video and photo editing platforms such as iMovie, Canva or Premiere Pro is not required but will be valued in a candidate
– Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative nature, and the ability to work closely with campaign teams is required. We are sometimes approached by clients with time-sensitive issues and the willingness to pitch in and help accomplish a goal under deadline is part of our process
– Comfort in representing Calvert Street Group in client meetings, update calls, and pitch meetings. An ability to manage client expectations and to present factual information in a clear, understandable way is important
