Job Title: Sustainability Manager
CCIA seeks a Sustainability Manager to support the Association’s work on sustainability, climate, product and eco-design, and green tech issues. The role involves managing projects and leading our efforts in these areas. The Sustainability Manager will report to the Senior Vice President for Europe and will be responsible for developing law and policy related to sustainability, carbon neutrality, energy efficiency, and climate policy. This position is based in Brussels.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with CCIA’s policy teams to achieve sustainability and climate policy goals on behalf of member companies.
- Manage and coordinate external advocacy and campaign efforts, coalitions, and initiatives in line with CCIA policy objectives.
- Draft written materials for both internal and external audiences to educate, inform, and support CCIA’s policy positions. These include briefs, research and advocacy papers, reports, memoranda, summaries, posts, and media communications.
- Anticipate and address challenges that technology companies may face in an evolving climate policy landscape.
- Lead and participate in meetings with institutions and policymakers, representing the Association’s position on specific policy files.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of four to five years of professional experience in law, advocacy, regulation, or public policy, with a focus on sustainability, technology, energy efficiency, or consumer products.
- Strong written and spoken English, as well as proficiency in other European languages.
- In-depth knowledge of European processes and/or climate and tech policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- A keen understanding and experience with European regulatory policy processes.
- Familiarity with internet technologies and surrounding policy environments, with the ability to quickly grasp complex technical, legal, and regulatory issues.
- Excellent interpersonal, political, analytical, public speaking, and organisational skills.
- Experience developing and rolling out advocacy campaigns targeting EU institutions.
- Good knowledge of EU environmental policy, particularly in climate policy and sustainability of products, services, emerging technologies, green tech, carbon neutrality, and eco-design.
- Experience working on tech policy files.
- Experience working within or with trade associations.
- Ability to thrive in multidisciplinary teams and to exercise sound strategic judgment in a rapidly changing policy environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines simultaneously.
- A strong EU political network in the field of climate policy.
Salary
Salary is commensurate with experience. The position is full-time, with some travel and flexible work.
