### General Description:

ConwayStrategic seeks a Vice President to lead client teams in the development and execution of high-impact strategies that support organizational, communications, and public affairs goals for progressive clients. The role involves collaborating closely with Co-CEOs to provide strategic leadership at our boutique communications agency and cultivating a collaborative work environment to ensure staff are supported in doing their best work and delivering exceptional results.

The successful candidate will have high-level strategic thinking, strong writing and media relations skills, and experience managing and supporting staff.

### Position Responsibilities:

– Serve as a member of the ConwayStrategic Leadership Team to collaborate with co-CEOs on company culture, implement company vision, manage and motivate staff and client teams to perform and execute their work, and institutionalize strategic learnings and communications best practices to support excellent client satisfaction.
– Represent ConwayStrategic in industry and stakeholder settings, including coalition meetings, client gatherings, and conferences.
– Lead, develop, and execute comprehensive communications strategies that incorporate messaging, strategy, traditional earned and digital media tactics.
– Lead planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and budgeting for clients and projects. This could include:
– Manage client relationships, leading each engagement and overseeing the activities and work of the internal team.
– Lead and execute thoughtful plan development for clients, including proactively providing ideas, guidance, and capacity to clients and partners throughout campaigns and projects; ensuring tactics are aligned with goals; and ensuring goals are met throughout a project lifetime.
– Project reporting, including providing media and social media reports, project evaluations, and leading internal and client debriefs.
– Create and manage budgets, staff allocations, and team management.
– Develop and implement cutting-edge PR and media relations strategies and activities, including, but not limited to:
– Devise earned media plans and strategies that meet project and organization goals.
– Draft and review materials including press releases, pitches, quotes/statements, fact sheets, talking points, speeches, op-eds, and letters to the editor.
– Develop and cultivate strong relationships with local and national, progressive, and ethnic media contacts at print, radio, digital, podcast, political, and broadcast TV outlets.
– Pitch written pieces and spokespeople to media.
– Manage rapid response moments for clients.
– Develop messages, including:
– Understanding and applying relevant opinion research to new or updated messages.
– Creating powerful, non-stigmatizing messages that move public opinion.
– Drive and execute social media strategies, including digital campaigns, social media, graphics, website, text/SMS campaigns, and digital advertising.
– Oversee and advise on paid media strategies, implementation, and evaluation, including managing buyers, vendors, and ensuring client goals and budget are met.
– Plan and lead message and media training for clients and partner organizations.
– Manage multifaceted projects that have numerous components, frequent deadlines, and high stakes.
– Prepare for and attend meetings and events on behalf of ConwayStrategic and/or clients.
– Conduct online research and reporting on various client-related topics.
– Oversee outside vendors and consultants.
– Lead or assist with new business pitches and proposals and funder meetings as needed.

### Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
– Must have at least 7-10 years of workplace experience, preferably working in communications and/or media; experience working on advocacy campaigns or with non-profit organizations is a plus.
– Ability to multitask and shift priorities; aptitude and willingness to work under and meet tight deadlines.
– Proven and highly effective organizational skills and strong writing skills are a must.
– Strong media relations experience is a must, including developing earned media strategies, pitching proactive stories to reporters, cultivating relationships with media contacts, and building outreach lists.
– Familiarity with tracking, analytics, research, and webinar software or willingness to learn.
– Experience working with racially diverse clients and staff, and racial justice issues.
– Goal-oriented, self-directed, and self-motivated within a team-based, participatory environment.
– Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
– Bilingual is a plus.

### Details:

– **Location** — Remote.
– **Salary** — $110,000 – 140,000, commensurate with experience.
