What Lessons Can We Learn From Recent European Public Affairs Campaigns?
With any public affairs campaign, there are challenges. In the EU, says András Baneth, managing director of the Council’s new European office, “One lesson is certainly at the level of perception.” An organization — especially one based in the U.S. — is often seen as not understanding the complexities of European markets, so a soft touch is necessary.
“Talk about the issue, but don’t talk about the person regulating that issue,” András advises. Focusing more on policy concerns rather than taking a negative and critical approach is key.
