Job Opportunity: Government Relations Counsel

GEICO’s Government and Regulatory Affairs team seeks an experienced Government Relations Counsel to advance the Company’s legislative and regulatory agenda in the western US region.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leverage experience and relationships with state policymakers to advocate GEICO’s agenda.
  • Build and maintain a network of key policymakers and industry associations.
  • Identify and support the development of policy priorities and strategies.
  • Develop understanding of legislative proposals and their impacts.
  • Assist in managing NAIC proposals and state-specific developments.
  • Position and leverage the company’s influence on key issues.
  • Assist in preparing comment letters and internal memos.
  • Oversee efforts of outside firms and lobbyists.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum 5-7 years relevant government affairs experience in insurance industry.
  • Significant property/casualty insurance experience.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to articulate positions persuasively.
  • Skill to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Annual Salary: $116,000.00 – $205,000.00
