Diageo North America seeks a Government Relations Manager to help ensure our continued success protecting our license to operate and promoting our reputation. The manager will work with the Vice President of Government Relations to deliver a comprehensive government affairs strategy that advances Diageo’s public policy goals with elected officials. The successful candidate will have knowledge of state/federal policy process as well as be an organized problem-solver with a “can do” demeanor and outstanding interpersonal skills.

Crucial duties and responsibilities include:

  • Support Diageo’s government relations strategy for strengthening relationships with local, state, and federal elected officials.
  • Keep abreast of relevant legislative and regulatory activities and analyze potential impact on Diageo.
  • Identify internal opportunities to communicate about priority issues and government relations efforts.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Relations colleagues on cross-functional projects.
  • Handle ongoing GR reporting and communications efforts.
  • Develop materials in support of Diageo’s government relations agenda, such as PowerPoint decks, talking points, legislative summaries, fact sheets, testimony, reports, and letters.
  • Plan and deliver legislative meetings and other types of engagement with key governmental officials.
  • Help coordinate Diageo’s representation with state and federal organizations.

Required Education, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in public policy, communications, or business.
  • 4+ years of experience with federal legislation, grassroots advocacy, lobbying, or campaign organizing experience.
  • Experience with Congress and state legislative bodies desirable.
  • Strong network of government affairs, trade association, and policymakers.
  • Standout colleague who is a self-starter, passionate about their work and innovative in solving problems, overcoming challenges, and achieving goals.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment, with outstanding attention to detail and timing.
  • Understanding of political and legislative processes.
