### Job Description

### Summary of Responsibilities

The Member Advocacy Strategist develops and implements strategies to engage family physicians in AAFP’s federal advocacy programs. This includes spearheading efforts to increase participation in the Key Contact program and designing and implementing a curriculum that supports Key Contact engagement with members of Congress. Developing and managing educational programs that engage typically untouched audiences, like students and residents, in advocacy programming. The Strategist also manages AAFP’s Speak Out program by drafting communications, managing the advocacy database, and identifying new communication channels to engage AAFP’s membership. In addition, the Strategist oversees the planning and execution of AAFP’s annual Family Medicine Advocacy Summit. Other duties as assigned.

This position reports to the Senior Manager, State Affairs and Member Advocacy.

### Requirements

– Bachelor’s degree or through equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of two years work experience.
– Must have experience in grassroots/tops advocacy-including crafting and implementing alerts for member activation.
– Political or campaign experience at the state and federal level is highly desirable.
– Strong presentation, organizational, project management, and event planning skills are required.
– The ability to plan, organize, manage details, and monitor own work necessary.
– Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues from other departments, advocates, and members of the political and advocacy community.
– Ability to multitask and juggle multiple responsibilities and requests daily.
– Problem-solving ability is vital. Choosing the correct course of action based on operating procedures is important.
– Ability to foster involvement and enthusiasm from grassroots and grasstops advocates to participate in advocacy programs is essential.

### Compensation Salary Range

$78,330.00 – $122,392.00
