### The Legislative Associate Role
The Legislative Associate will work closely with our Senior Manager, State Affairs and Manager, Federal Affairs, providing vital support to our advocacy initiatives. This is a cross-functional position supporting both the Association’s state and federal advocacy efforts. This role involves identifying and analyzing state legislation, conducting legislative research, and supporting lobbying efforts at both the state and federal levels.
RV Industry Association is a hybrid workforce with the flexibility of remote work available.
### Key Responsibilities
– Identify and provide concise analysis of relevant state bills using our bill tracking service.
– Assist staff lobbyists in bill management as required or assigned.
– Provide research and project support to state and federal advocacy teams.
– Develop content for regular reports to members on industry-relevant bills.
– Perform legislative research and analysis with recommendations to support lobbying staff and departmental initiatives.
– Prepare written products to support advocacy activities.
– Join advocacy activities to provide additional capacity as needed.
– Potentially co-chair the Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) State Committee and lead other coalition efforts based on experience and skills.
### Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as political science, public policy, or a related discipline. Degrees or job experience emphasizing legislative, writing, qualitative, or analytical skills are preferred.
– 2-3 years of experience as a legislative analyst, preferably within a trade association, Capitol Hill, or state legislative office.
– Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and succinctly analyze legislation.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
– Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
– Willingness to travel as needed and work extended hours during peak times, such as legislative sessions and major Association events.
### Additional Information
– Most state legislatures operate from January to May, requiring the Legislative Associate to work more intensely during these months.
– The Associate will play a key role during RVs Move America Week and Advocacy Day, necessitating extended hours during these events.
– The position supports federal lobbying efforts in Washington, DC, and involves some travel to major Association events, member visits, relevant conferences, and committee meetings.
– Attendance and participation in local PAC fundraising events may also be required.
