### DESCRIPTION
Work hard, have fun, and make history with Amazon Public Policy. The Manager, State and Local Policy, will help lead our US state and local political engagement & compliance efforts. You will work with members of the public policy team to develop and execute political engagement programs at the state and local level and with legal counsel to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. You will develop tools and procedures for collecting, filing, and reporting relevant data on an ongoing basis. You will assess existing and emerging political engagement issues and advise public policy team members on risks and best practices. You will develop both internal and external mechanisms for sustained engagement in multiple jurisdictions. This position will report to the Senior Manager, State and Local Public Policy.
The position is based in Arlington, VA.

### BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– BA/BS required
– At least 8 years of relevant public policy experience and a keen working understanding of the US state and local policymaking process and government relations
– Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
– An ability and desire to travel is required
### PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Experience in state political fundraising and/or running a corporate PAC
– Experience handling state government compliance issues
– Experience researching, issue-spotting, and operationalizing contractual, statutory, or regulatory requirements
– Ability to think critically, process data from multiple sources, anticipate outcomes, and recommend a best course of action
– Highly effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at all corporate and political levels
– Proven self-starter who can take general direction and produce specific results
– Ability to maintain the highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry
– Demonstrated work experience with state and local government, companies, consultancies, trade associations, or equivalent organizations
– Demonstrated success in analyzing and maintaining records, as well as identifying and driving opportunities for automation and process improvement in operations
– Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others
– Ability to build a course of action, analyze risk trade-offs, and make recommendations even in ambiguous situations
