The EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases is searching for an Associate Director of Policy Communications to join its team.

The EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases (EveryLife Foundation) is a science-based nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy organization dedicated to bringing treatments to over 30 million Americans with rare diseases. The Foundation works with patient advocates, lawmakers, industry, academic scientists, federal agencies, payers, and other key stakeholders to advance the equitable development of and access to lifesaving diagnoses, treatments, and cures.

The Associate Director of Policy Communications is responsible for developing policy communications and implementing policy communications strategies for the Foundation. The position works closely with all staff across the Foundation, the rare disease patient community, and industry professionals. This position directly reports to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. This position is required to regularly commute to the Washington, D.C. office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaises with the policy team to interpret the Foundation’s policy work and drafts policy writings communications, and marketing materials to all stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with policy, advocacy, communication, and development teams to write, edit and promote policy-focused content for social media, mass emails, e-newsletters, webpages, news releases, event programs, and marketing materials, including special reports, annual reports, and opinion pieces for media.
  • Provides copy-edits and final review of public policy writings, to ensure accuracy and brand standards, adhering to editorial style across all communication channels.
  • Works with Chief Marketing and Communications Officer to develop an editorial calendar.
  • Initiates the development and execution of communication, marketing, and media strategies to support the Foundation’s policy initiatives and special projects.
  • Works with designers to ensure publications are branded and attractive to readers.
  • Coordinates with the communication team to update the Foundation website on an ongoing basis with policy publications, event, and program information.
  • Supports event and program coordination as it relates to communications and marketing.
  • Attends and supports Foundation events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Occasional travel, weekend, and evening work may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree, with 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Capitol Hill communication methods and outlets.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with established deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to draft, copy edit, and speak publicly about complex information.

BENEFITS

This is a full-time, direct-hire position. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience, ranging from $75,000 – $80,000. The benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance, FSA, wellness reimbursement, cellphone stipend, WIFI stipend, 401k 6% match, professional development, and generous paid leave.
