JOB SUMMARY

The American Nurses Association (ANA) is seeking to add a Vice President, Corporate Communications to our senior leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Communications & Strategic Engagement Officer, the VP will be responsible for evolving and building the development of integrated marketing campaigns and brand messaging to enhance brand sentiment, awareness, and growth. In this role, you will lead talented teams including PR, social media, Marketing, and Brand, with a focus on increasing unaided brand awareness, positive sentiment, organic traffic, earned media value, customer stories, and event success.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop and lead the overall communications and brand strategy in alignment with the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Own the messaging framework and its evolution alongside the business, with constant measurement and monitoring at the heart of its development.
  • Create compelling content strategies across various platforms to engage our audience and drive brand awareness. Ensure these content strategies are informed by SEO and revenue analytics to place our content investments wisely.
  • Oversee the strategy and execution of PR initiatives, driving positive media coverage and effective crisis management. Work with our PR agency and internal stakeholders to deliver strategic approaches to timing our messaging, telling our story, and differentiating our brand.
  • Lead the marketing department in creating a culture of authentic customer and member stories that resonate with our customers and demonstrate the value of our solution to the market.
  • Create the conditions for successful social media strategy, including social media channels, crafting engaging content, and monitoring online conversations to enhance brand reputation. Own the social channels for the whole organization.
  • Lead the communications vision for corporate events that align with our brand identity, resonate with our target audiences, generate leads, and extend the media value of our messaging.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the rest of the brand, marketing, and communications teams to ensure consistency in messaging and branding.
  • Utilize data and analytics to measure the impact of communication efforts and make thoughtful, data-driven decisions. See data beyond impressions and reach, understanding the acquisition value of organic traffic.
  • Lead a team of mid-career individuals with business-critical skillsets in content creation, digital media creation, social media, PR, communications, and brand.
  • Exercise superior judgment in all situations, demonstrating integrity and high discernment in decision-making.

WHAT YOU BRING TO ANA

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience (8+ years) in communications, brand management, and PR, preferably in the healthcare, technology, or SaaS (Software as a Service) industries.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and creativity.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of an extremely high bar for execution detail and quality of work leading to exceptional results.
  • Proven ability to tell stories that resonate on an emotional level and tie to business value.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing content strategies that drive traffic and awareness.
  • Experience with social media management, crisis communication, and media relations.
  • Ability to think strategically, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in high-volume content creation with fast-paced teams running an agile/scrum approach to marketing production.
  • Record of accomplishment of quantifying and reporting on the impact of communication initiatives.
  • Comfort and record of accomplishment collaborating with executives without oversight.
  • A passion for healthcare and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer experiences.
