The American Association of Endodontists (AAE) is dedicated to excellence in the art and science of endodontics and to the highest standard of patient care. The Association inspires its members to pursue professional advancement and personal fulfillment through education, research, advocacy, leadership, communication, and service.

The AAE is currently seeking an Advocacy & Policy Manager to join our team. This role works with the Advocacy & Professional Relations Director to implement strategies advocating for the interests of endodontists and patients with the public, including dental and healthcare organizations, government bodies, and commercial stakeholders. This role shares information and develops resources to support practice management and business issues impacting endodontic practices, while promoting active member engagement in the AAE committee process and advocacy work.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with the Director to advance the AAE’s Strategic Plan and goals that develop our body of knowledge to advance the field of endodontics and advocate for quality endodontic care.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the dental, healthcare, and political industries to uphold the AAE’s role within the healthcare community.
  • Monitor local, state, and federal issues that impact endodontists and work directly with the Director to develop advocacy responses, including organizational comments, grassroots campaigns, and other initiatives, to advance the AAE’s priorities with lawmakers and other stakeholders.
  • Manage the grassroots advocacy website and draft the grassroots campaigns that AAE members will use to engage with lawmakers on legislative priorities.
  • Draft the monthly AAE Advocate newsletter, oversee the maintenance of the Advocacy & Practice Affairs webpages, and utilize AAE Communications channels to advertise advocacy work to members and the public.
  • Assist the Director in reviewing and updating practice guidelines and position statements to ensure members have the latest information to manage their practices effectively.
  • Share news and resources on practice management, including those related to coding and payment issues, to keep members informed about policy changes and the latest industry trends.

What We Seek

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience, preferably with a dental/health care association or dental/health care related organization.
  • Experience representing an organization to external stakeholders.
  • Experience working with a non-profit organization, association, and/or volunteer board.
  • Experience working with committee forms of governance and decision-making.
  • Experience in government affairs and public policy analysis and processes strongly desired.
  • Knowledge regarding legislative and regulatory aspects of healthcare policy—dental policy background strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to clearly synthesize information for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively to meet deadlines, and take initiative on project development.
  • Strong research, analytical, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Preferred experience with legislative tracking and grassroots software platforms. Familiarity with a project management tool is a plus.
