The Opportunity

The Vice President of Government Affairs will lead Veralto’s government affairs strategy and operations globally, with overall responsibility for managing legislative, regulatory, political, and reputational risks while promoting growth opportunities. The VP will provide strategic leadership on public policy initiatives and stakeholder engagement, achieving significant policy outcomes that align with Veralto’s business objectives. Additionally, the VP will drive the company culture, fostering a high-performance, engaged, diverse, and motivated government affairs function.

This role presents an opportunity to shape Veralto’s policy environment and contribute to its mission of safeguarding vital resources.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the government affairs function, both strategically and operationally, to create a center of excellence and trusted business partner.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and proactive public policy/government affairs strategy that aligns with Veralto’s purpose, strategy, and values.
  • Translate the strategy into a clearly articulated, actionable plan with key deliverables, which are regularly monitored and measured.
  • Consistent with business priorities and annual goals, provide leadership, support, direction, and supervision to federal, state-based, and other advocacy staff, including dotted line supervision of Vice President – Policy & Stakeholder Management (Water Segment).
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, regulators, industry associations, and other stakeholders at the local, national, and international levels.
  • Monitor and analyze the policy landscape and identify emerging trends, opportunities, and risks for Veralto and its operating companies.
  • Advocate for the company’s interests and positions on key policy issues such as existing and future legislation concerning climate-related disclosures, plastics pollution strategy, labeling requirements, corporate tax incentives promoting clean energy, energy efficiency, and producing clean energy products.
  • Bring insights into these issues, along with the capability to quickly acquire knowledge in new issue areas.
  • Influence relevant stakeholders in a bi-partisan, values-aligned manner.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with internal teams in the operating companies, Corporate Communications, and Strategy and Sustainability to ensure alignment and consistency on prioritization and execution of policy matters consistent with the company’s strategy.
  • Support Veralto’s sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiatives, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting.
  • Engage, manage, and oversee activities of external lobbying firms as needed.

Experience

  • Extensive relevant job experience in government affairs, public policy, advocacy, and/or related fields, preferably in manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, diversified industrial and/or technology sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key government officials, regulators, industry associations, and other stakeholders at the local, national, and international levels.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade decision-makers and communicate complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory and policy landscape affecting the company’s business areas and strategic objectives, as well as the ability to identify and monitor emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Proven track record of developing, executing, and measuring results in successful government affairs strategies and campaigns.
  • The ideal candidate has a blend of corporate and governmental (Hill, Administration) experience.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Communications, Political Science, Public Administration, or related fields. Advanced degrees, including a Master’s in Public Policy or a Juris Doctor, are beneficial, although not required.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $275,000 – $350,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
We offer a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
