For this U.S. based position, the expected compensation range is $136,000 – $204,000 per year, which includes base pay and short-term incentive.

The compensation range for this full-time position applies to candidates located within the United States. Our salary ranges are determined by reviewing roles of similar responsibility and level. Within the salary range, individual pay is determined by several factors including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. An exciting opportunity at the nexus of politics, energy, and technology: the full-time state government relations manager in Washington, DC, will have a chance to serve on Schneider Electric’s North American Government Relations team, supporting the Chief Public Policy Officer (CPPO), Chief of Staff, and working in close partnership with other leaders in the State Government Relations team. The state government relations manager will lead Schneider Electric’s policy and advocacy efforts in key states on the East Coast of the United States, including Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina, on topics such as the future of clean energy, energy resilience, cyber-security, smart manufacturing, and climate/sustainability. The manager will also serve as a primary point of contact, working with Washington-based national groups leading state advocacy at the national level, including the National Governors Association (NGA) and the National Association of Energy Offices (NASEO). The manager will work individually and in coordination across the team to support executing the team’s strategy and operational plan.

In this role, the manager will be responsible for internal and external activity, including the following:

  • Lead strategy development consultation and execution for the East Coast of the United States, from South Carolina to Maine, with a key emphasis on Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina;
  • Particular focus will develop strategies around Massachusetts North American Headquarters.
  • Lead the work to strengthen the team’s operational success by managing the team’s internal workstreams and managing timelines to support internal administrative reports to give visibility to the Government Relations team’s work.
  • Develop relationships with members of state legislatures, state agency officials, local government, and state/local industry associations to support the strategy.
  • Support Schneider Electric’s business units in their goals.
  • Manage relationships with Governor’s federal affairs directors in Washington, DC.
  • Participate in the management of Schneider Electric’s engagements with key policy organizations, including the National Governors Association, National Association of State Energy Officials, and other groups based in Washington, DC.
  • Manage consultants across key states.
  • Creatively plan and execute hosted events.
  • Lead policy thought leadership and support external communications strategy.
  • Strong ability to digest policy and effectively develop a strategy to advocate for key priorities.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing government relations strategies.
  • Effective communicator and team player.
  • Understanding of sustainability or energy policy landscape.
  • Creative thinking in highlighting challenges or barriers to digitization and/or automation.
