Role Overview
The Policy & Industry Affairs Manager will be part of the National Program Operations Team and will report to the Director, Policy Analysis. The Policy & Industry Affairs Manager will manage external stakeholder engagement with trade associations, nonprofit organizations, and other groups. This position will contribute to national policy analysis efforts and will work directly on EPR harmonization across states. This role will provide policy affairs support to teams working across the organization and will help facilitate internal alignment across multiple teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage interactions with stakeholder groups including trade associations, nonprofit organizations, and other groups across the states on alignment of EPR policy and legislative and regulatory efforts.
- Conduct research on EPR legislation and public policy across multiple states.
- Contribute to internal discussions on harmonization efforts to streamline EPR legislation across states.
- Prepare analysis of pending legislation and public policy trends.
- Participate in relevant industry discussions and learning sessions to stay informed on EPR best practices.
- Support the development of policy and program planning where CAA may become the PRO.
- Manage policy agendas and meetings and provide support for policy-related initiatives across the industry.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with different teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data management tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree (preferably in public policy, environmental or sustainability studies, or a related discipline).
- Required: 5+ years of experience in industry affairs, legislative affairs, government relations, or public policy.
- Preferred: Experience includes coordination of state government relations programs including tracking, monitoring, and engagement planning.
- Direct knowledge of state legislative practices and preference for knowledge of EPR programs, environmental regulations, packaging policies, or producer responsibility programs.
- Strong writing, research, and analytical skills, with the ability to summarize and communicate findings effectively.
Compensation & Other Information
- Location: Initially Fully Remote with potential for in-person
- Compensation: Competitive salary based on a variety of factors in accordance with applicable law
- Reports To: Director, Policy Analysis
