Overview
We are seeking multiple highly motivated individuals with a strong work ethic to support Headquarters of the United States Air Force, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration, SAF/SQ International Affairs/Negotiator Support.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the Strategic Communications Specialist providing technical analyses and direct support for SAF/SQ.
- Leads cross-organization and cross-function teams of peers to develop, deliver, and maintain a strategic communications strategy and stakeholder engagement plan for the SAF/SQ and Director.
- Identifies engagement opportunities (meetings, conferences, interviews, social activities, etc.) and develops a communications calendar with milestones over the fiscal year.
- Collaborates with SAF/PA, SAF/LL, OSD LA and other organizations to shape and deliver clear and concise messages across the full spectrum of audiences and media.
- Delivers a high level of expertise to ensure that complex, potentially controversial, and politically sensitive issues are appropriately articulated to multiple, pre-determined audiences and amplified via appropriate communications channels.
- Develops and applies quantitative and qualitative methods to measure the effectiveness of the Strategic Communications plan, materials, and engagements across appropriate audiences and stakeholders.
- Develops and delivers communications products aimed at informing and influencing a variety of audiences – both internal and external – through numerous fora and all types of media.
- Creates time-sensitive deliverables that are strategic, well-researched, tailored to the audiences, and rapidly adapted to meet changing environments and Director SAF/SQ goals.
- Conducts research, analysis, and interviews to write and edit a variety of materials such as speeches; interviews; social media content; conference presentations; executive summaries; reports; articles for publication in professional magazines, journals, and other media outlets; newsletters; news releases; notes; and other correspondence.
- Provides support to special projects and assignments, such as preparing congressional testimony, written products, and information papers on a wide variety of issues with audiences at the highest level of the nation’s civilian and military leadership.
- Conducts technical analysis, including implications and alternatives, and writes these analyses and recommendations in clear, concise written products.
- Reviews written material for editorial quality and consistency, and compliance with DoD and Air Force style, format, and content to ensure products adhere to all requirements.
- Ensures written materials are commensurate with the level and authority of the target audience consisting of the Secretary of Defense, members of Congress, senior officials at the Four Star or SES level, and other leaders at the highest levels of the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, other government agencies, and private industry.
Skills Required
- >15 years of applicable experience in an Analysis, Policy, Planning, or Program Management field related to Defense Space.
- Senior staff, writing, and decision-making skills.
- Strong public speaking skills.
Desired Skills
- Recent work experience with National Security Space (DoD or IC) community.
- Experience with NASA, NRO, and commercial providers.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in math, engineering, business, or the sciences.
