Meta’s Product Counsel organization provides strategic legal advice and risk mitigation to product, engineering, and business teams across Meta’s family of products and services. This team is looking for an attorney who is enthusiastic about technology and its potential for positive impact in peoples’ lives. In this role, you will be supporting the product teams that are working on some of our most significant cross‑product services and technologies for our youth users.
To be successful, candidates should have flexibility, collaboration skills, and the ability to help drive decision‑making across multiple teams within the legal department, as well as product, engineering, marketing, policy, communications, and other teams. Lead Product Counsel, Youth Responsibilities
- Support youth product, engineering, and research teams on projects involving teen and family experiences and age‑appropriate content, while delivering practical legal risk assessments and mitigation strategies in these and other important spaces.
- Provide holistic legal advice across many subject areas including data protection/privacy, content regulation, online safety, competition, and consumer protection.
- Coordinate with policy, public affairs, product management, product marketing, privacy, and other cross‑functional teams on external communications, policy development, product development, and product launches.
- Lead consensus building and drive coordination with other members of the Legal team.
- Maintain subject matter expertise in youth laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
- 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm and/or in‑house.
- Experience with one or more of the following or related legal areas: product or regulatory counseling, research counseling, consumer protection, and/or privacy.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm or in‑house.
- Experience with international legal requirements, especially those related to youth privacy/data protection, content regulation, and/or online safety.
- Product counseling experience at a technology company.
- Experience working autonomously and cross‑functionally.
- Experience prioritizing work and providing advice in a deadline‑driven environment across multiple jurisdictions and time zones.
- Experience taking on projects involving different subject matters and supporting a portfolio of clients.

$202,000/year to $274,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or sales incentives, if applicable.
