## About the Role

AIG is looking for a resourceful, strategic communicator to join our global Internal Communications team as **Director, Leadership Communications**. This professional will play an integral role in executing and supporting communications strategies for programs and activities in support of our Human Resources and Legal and Compliance functions. The ideal candidate is someone who will come to work every day with energy, ideas, and the commitment to drive results.

This position will collaborate closely with other communications professionals across the organization and stakeholder leadership teams and will directly manage two team members. This role reports to the Head of Internal Communications and is based at AIG’s headquarters in New York City. It is office‑based 4 days per week, with 1 day remote.

## Responsibilities

With a demonstrated track record of successfully developing and implementing communications strategies and plans within a complex, matrixed, global organization, key responsibilities for this role include:

– Provide strong strategic guidance and executional support for executive leaders across HR and Legal that drive global initiatives, change management and culture building.
– Effectively partner with CHRO and all stakeholder leaders in support of HR disciplines to align messaging, ensure accuracy, consistency and timelines.
– Serve as a transformational leader to HR and Legal and Compliance who can facilitate the routine communication needs for each function, while adeptly influencing novel approaches to a wide variety of communications initiatives and programs that drive engagement through all aspects of the colleague journey.
– Champion our culture together with HR leaders to help reflect and infuse AIG’s Purpose and Values throughout our communications and related HR campaigns.
– Effectively partner with the General Counsel and all stakeholder leaders in support of Legal, Compliance, Sustainability and Global Security communication initiatives.
– Drive clear, consistent, high‑quality communication materials, including but not limited to announcements, talking points, scripts/speeches, presentations and functional articles for our intranet.
– Support planning, logistics, content development and successful execution of events such as HR and Legal team meetings, leadership videos, speaking engagements and other events, as they arise.
– Build strong relationships with internal clients, partners and peers across the HR and Legal functions as well as the AIG enterprise.
– Work closely with Global Marketing & Communications team members (internal communications, external communications, global functions, business marketing) to collaborate with AIG leaders/partners to advance our strategic priorities, champion internal campaigns, and provide best‑in‑class communications support.

## Qualifications

### Education
– Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field, or equivalent experience.

### Professional Skills
– 10+ years of relevant experience developing and crafting internal communications within a complex/matrixed global company. Experience in a regulated industry is preferred but not required.
– HR or Internal Communication experience; digital experience a plus.
– Able to work well independently and within a team setting. Demonstrates strong judgment and commitment to the highest standards of delivery and execution.
– Effective communication, project management, facilitation, conflict resolution, analysis, interpretation, visionary and strategic thinking skills. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
– Confident, open and collaborative style.
– Demonstrates an executive presence and the ability to creatively address challenges and share best practices.
– Deep and broad business acumen; understanding of various communication channels.
– Collaborates effectively with a range of stakeholders throughout the organization.
– Strong relationship management, interpersonal, influencing and networking skills; track record of building relationships across a global, matrixed enterprise.

## Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this position is **$185,000 – $215,000** in New York. The position is also eligible for a bonus in accordance with the applicable incentive plan. A summary of competitive benefits can be viewed here: **US Benefits**.
