### **Job Description**
*CONTINGENT UPON AWARD*

The Communications Specialist supports the Communications Lead in developing and delivering high‑quality communication products and engagement activities for transformation initiatives within a classified U.S. Navy or DoD environment. This role assists with content creation, message execution, coordination of communication events, and monitoring communication effectiveness to ensure consistent, clear, and mission‑aligned messaging across diverse stakeholder groups. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong writing skills, operational discipline, and experience supporting communication programs in fast‑paced or highly regulated environments.

### **Content Development & Production**

Draft, edit, and prepare communication materials, including:

– Executive and organizational emails
– FAQs, briefing documents, and talking points
– Intranet/portal articles and knowledge‑base content
– Town‑hall and leadership presentation materials
– Fact sheets, flyers, and campaign collateral

Support the Communications Lead in ensuring messaging accuracy, consistency, and alignment with communication strategies.
Tailor messaging based on audience needs, security constraints, and organizational context.

### **Communication Planning & Coordination**

– Support execution of the communication plan, including scheduling, message sequencing, and channel coordination.
– Maintain communication calendars, trackers, and content repositories.
– Coordinate logistics for communication events such as town halls, listening sessions, leadership meetings, and campaign launches.
– Manage posting and distribution across approved channels while adhering to classification requirements.

### **Engagement & Feedback Support**

Assist with two‑way engagement activities, including:

– Surveys and pulse checks
– Listening sessions and focus groups
– Change champion network activities

Capture, organize, and summarize feedback for leadership and the Communications Lead.
Prepare notes, insights, and action recommendations based on feedback trends.

### **Metrics, Tracking & Reporting**

– Track communication effectiveness and engagement metrics (open rates, participation, feedback received).
– Support development of dashboards and reports summarizing communication reach, sentiment, and impact.
– Help identify messaging gaps or opportunities to refine communication tactics.
– Maintain organized logs, archives, templates, and version‑controlled content.

### **Administrative & Operational Support**

– Assist in preparing materials, coordinating logistics, and managing documentation for communication‑related meetings and forums.
– Collaborate closely with security, IT, and facilities to support communication events in both classified and unclassified environments.
– Provide general support to the Communications Lead across all communication and engagement workstreams.

### **Required Qualifications**

– Active Secret Clearance / US Citizen
– Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Organizational Development, or related discipline
– 5–7 years of experience in communications, writing, stakeholder engagement, or organizational change (DoD, Navy, or government experience strongly preferred)
– Demonstrated ability to draft communications for complex or technical topics
– Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail
– Experience supporting communications for multi‑channel campaigns across email, events, intranet, and presentations
– Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment
– Ability to work in classified environments and handle sensitive information professionally

**Estimated Salary Range:** $125–$145K
