## Join the future of news

We’re on a mission to deliver riveting storytelling for all of America. At The Washington Post, you’ll help reinvent news. Our work is driven by a deep investigative spirit and enhanced by innovation to bring audiences closer to the stories that matter most.

## About Our Team

The Washington Post is powered by the passion and talent of our people. It takes all of us to reinvent news. Beyond our award‑winning Newsroom and Opinions teams, we work across many departments, including Brand & Events, Communications, Customer Care, Engineering & Product, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Marketing & Advertising, Print Operations, and Sales.

## Why This Role Matters

The Washington Post is seeking a high‑energy, news‑obsessed Booker (Contract) to join our Communications Team. This is a fast‑paced role for someone who lives at the intersection of breaking news and logistics. Your mission is to place our journalists in front of both new and established audiences on platforms including cable news, streaming, podcasts, social video and more.

## How You’ll Support the Mission

**Pitching:** Identify, pitch, and secure interview on‑air opportunities for Post journalists to discuss their reporting and columns. This includes, but is not limited to, network and cable news channels, streaming programs, podcasts, radio and more.

**Logistics Management:** Coordinate all technical and travel logistics, including studio bookings, remote link‑ups (Zoom/LiveU), car services and scheduling.

**Relationship Building:** Maintain and expand a deep “rolodex” of media bookers and producers.

**Briefing:** Prepare journalists with topics, tough questions, and close the loop by providing links to the resulting interviews.

**Breaking News Response:** React instantly to breaking news cycles to offer expert interviews and perspectives.

## Skills and Experience You Bring

**Experience:** 3+ years in broadcast booking with existing media relationships.

**Availability:** Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings and/or weekends.

**Communication:** Exceptional interpersonal skills, including pitching; the ability to be persuasive yet professional under pressure.

**Judgment:** Sharp editorial instincts and a deep understanding of current events, politics and pop culture.

## Preferred Attributes

**The “Hustle”:** You don’t take “no” for an answer and excel at finding the unfindable contact info.

**Composure:** You remain calm and organized when a producer cancels five minutes before airtime or when handling a strong personality.

**Discretion:** Ability to handle sensitive information with total confidentiality.
