## Role Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Government Affairs to lead our global legislative, regulatory, and policy strategy. This role reflects the important intersection of building strong partnerships, navigating complex regulatory frameworks, and supporting a wide range of programs, lines of business, and initiatives.

Based in the US, this role carries a comprehensive global remit, prioritizing government relations, policy development, and regulatory advocacy across our diverse operational footprint, including the US, Brazil, Panama, Djibouti, Uganda, Australia, and the UK.

Reporting to executive leadership, you will design the frameworks and initiatives that build trust with key governmental and related stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and local governments. Additionally, you will translate complex scientific and technological achievements into compelling, accessible policy narratives, ensuring consistent messaging across our various divisions and enterprises.

## Key Responsibilities

### Government Relations & Policy Advocacy

**Legislative Strategy:** Take ownership of key government relationships in the US and globally, acting as the primary liaison with elected officials, regulatory agencies, and policymakers at the local, national, and international levels.
**Policy Campaigns:** Design, launch, and manage comprehensive advocacy campaigns tailored to diverse international markets to shape policy environments where Flyttr deploys its technologies and services.
**Legislative Management:** Manage and direct government affairs initiatives, closely monitoring global policy trends, legislative environments, and political sentiment regarding biosecurity, agricultural tech, and biological control methods.
**Local Integration:** Collaborate directly with our national and local commercial, scientific, and operational leaders to navigate complex regional political dynamics and ensure our advocacy strategies are politically relevant and impactful.

### Strategic Partnerships

**Stakeholder Management:** Serve as the primary government contact, cultivating relationships with key health, agriculture, and environmental regulatory bodies.
**Briefing & Content Creation:** Draft and manage the distribution of policy briefs, legislative testimony, executive briefing materials, and regulatory submissions.
**Risk Mitigation:** Act as a strategic advisor for political risk, anticipating potential regulatory challenges in complex markets and deploying proactive mitigation strategies.
**Regulatory Strategy Support:** Develop and execute a proactive global regulatory affairs strategy that aligns with Flyttr’s rapid growth, strategic acquisitions, and expanding international presence.

## Qualifications & Experience

**Experience:** 10–15 years of progressive experience, with a heavy emphasis on government affairs, lobbying, regulatory policy, and stakeholder management.
**Mindset:** Open mind; willingness to take on any task at any level; roll‑up‑sleeves approach appropriate for a start‑up culture.
**Industry Knowledge:** Background in biotechnology, biosecurity, global health (e.g., malaria, dengue), and/or agriculture is highly preferred. Must have a proven ability to distill complex data and scientific concepts (e.g., biological controls, AI monitoring networks) for non‑technical policymakers and have existing relationships at the federal and state levels.
**Global Acumen:** Demonstrated experience designing government and stakeholder engagement campaigns in the US and across international borders and navigating diverse cultural, political, and regulatory landscapes.
**Global Portfolio:** Ability to balance the dynamics, schedules, and requirements of a global business active in virtually every major time zone, as well as the ability to travel throughout the US and internationally.
**Strategic Leadership:** Strong track record of building trust with critical government stakeholders from the ground up and managing high‑stakes public affairs portfolios with care.
**Skills:** Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; high emotional intelligence; and the agility to thrive in a fast‑paced, exciting, and trust‑centered environment.
**Education:** BA/BS required; MA/MS/MBA, MPP, or JD highly beneficial.
**Location:** Based in the US and must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

This is a remote or hybrid role and may be performed from an agreed U.S. location. In compliance with pay‑transparency laws in multiple states, we expect the compensation to include a base salary in the range of $120,000–$170,000. This is a good‑faith assumption of what the company reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and location.
