**Location:** Washington D.C. — This is a hybrid workplace, with Mondays and Wednesdays in the office and three days remote, plus occasional in‑person work for events and special projects.

## Position Summary

The Policy Analyst will be a member of Groundwork’s Policy, Advocacy, and Research team and will engage in substantive research and analytical work to advance a coherent economic worldview within the broader progressive movement. Groundwork partners with groups across the movement to weave a through‑line among efforts and policy ideas that too often seem disparate. The Policy Analyst will work closely with other members of Groundwork’s Policy and Advocacy team and external partners to produce everything from internal analyses to products for public release.

## As a Policy Analyst you’ll…

– **Gather and analyze research** — academic and policy research, statistical data, and federal, state, and local policy or implementation information.
– **Draft policy products** — summarizing research and policy information for broad audiences.
– **Develop presentations** — written and graphical research presentations for internal and external dissemination.
– **Stay current** — on relevant news, literature, and legislative processes related to economic policy.
– **Support logistics** — operations and events for the Policy, Advocacy, and Research team.
– **Collaborate effectively** — working with colleagues and accepting oversight and feedback graciously.
– **Attend meetings** — convenings aligned with Groundwork’s worldview to deepen connections with organizations, experts, and advocates.
– **Perform other duties** as assigned.

## About you

– You have a bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent lived experience, in Economics, Political Science, Sociology, or a related field.
– You have experience in progressive economic policymaking or data analysis (think tanks, legislative bodies, executive agencies, academic institutions).
– You have excellent qualitative and quantitative research skills and can gather, analyze, and describe data using a variety of tools.
– You can distill jargon or technical language into clear, concise, compelling language for diverse audiences.
– You’re an excellent writer with strong quality‑control instincts.
– You have compelling, conversational speaking skills.
– You’re a problem solver who proposes solutions when challenges arise.
– You have a creative and entrepreneurial attitude.
– You can set priorities and manage multiple detail‑oriented tasks, often under time pressure.
– You are self‑motivated, well‑organized, flexible, and effective both independently and as part of a team.
– You are committed to economic, racial, and social justice.

## In addition, it would be a bonus if you have…

– **Social media and rapid response experience.**
– **Experience with one or more of the following:**
– Corporate or political research (earnings calls, SEC filings, FEC reports).
– State and/or federal legislative or regulatory processes.
– Quantitative economic research (CBO, OMB, Census Bureau, BLS, Federal Reserve, CFPB, academic institutions).
– Large economic datasets (public‑use Census microdata, Employment Situation Summary, GDP estimates).
– Advanced statistical packages (R, Stata, Python) and/or data visualization tools (Tableau, ggplot2).

## Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is **$80,000 to $90,000**, commensurate with experience.
