Public Affairs Council Event Code of Conduct

The Public Affairs Council is committed to providing a safe, productive and welcoming environment for all meeting participants. All attendees, speakers, volunteers, exhibitors, Public Affairs Council staff members, service providers and others are expected to abide by this Event Code of Conduct.

The Council will not tolerate any form of discrimination or harassment by anyone at our events. If you experience harassment or become aware of any incidents of unacceptable behavior, we ask that you inform a Public Affairs Council staff member immediately.

All participants must cooperate and comply with requests and instructions from Council and/or security staff issued in their official capacity regarding the use of facilities and access to and conduct within the venues of Council events.

Unacceptable behavior includes:

  • Harassment, intimidation, or discrimination in any form.
  • Verbal abuse or bullying of any attendee, speaker, sponsor, exhibitor, Council staff member, service provider, or other event guest. Examples of verbal abuse and bullying include, but are not limited to, verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion or national origin; sexual images in public spaces or in presentations; or threatening, intimidating or humiliating conduct toward any attendee, speaker, sponsor, exhibitor, Council staff member, service provider or other event guest.
  • Inappropriate or unwelcome physical contact by any attendee, speaker, sponsor, exhibitor, Council staff member, service provider, or other event guest.
  • Disruption of presentations during virtual or in-person events. All participants must comply with the instructions of the moderator and any Council event staff.
  • Disparaging remarks aimed at a specific attendee, organization, speaker, sponsor, exhibitor, Council staff member, service provider, or other event guest.
  • Possession of dangerous or unauthorized materials such as explosives, firearms, weapons or similar items.
  • Any other illegal activity or forms of harassment not covered above.

The Council reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the event or conference app without warning or refund, in response to incidents of unacceptable behavior. The Council also reserves the right to prohibit attendance at any future event.
