We continue to see extensive regulatory activity happening across states and within differing political environments. This first session will explore the current state regulatory landscape and how to execute a strong regulatory advocacy program.
In this session we will:
- Walk through the current state of state rulemaking and ongoing trends
- Discuss similarities and differences in rulemaking across various states of the country
- Forecast potential rulemaking changes that may be on the horizon
- Outline what to consider when developing your own state regulatory advocacy plans

2:45 p.m. The Federal Regulatory Landscape and Maintaining Coordination
Having a regulatory action plan ready is great, but implementation is key. The second part of the workshop will provide an overview of the current federal regulatory arena and delve into best practices for putting a federal regulatory plan into action, including case studies and how to build and maintain effective relationships with regulators.
In this session we will:
- Discuss the current federal regulatory environment;
- Highlight different ways to coordinate your regulatory advocacy with your other state and federal advocacy efforts;
- Provide case studies of where effective coordination paid off (and instances where lack of coordination led to unfavorable outcomes);
- Discuss how the regulatory arena can cross over to government relations success
- Share best practices for building and maintaining relationships with regulators
