Overview: Edelman is seeking an Account Supervisor to join our growing group of crisis experts and practitioners. Specifically, we are looking for this Account Supervisor to help grow our Digital Crisis capabilities. This role requires a keen understanding of the digital landscape and experience deploying digital strategies and tactics for reputation and crisis management.

Role Description: While there’s no “typical” day in this role, we are looking for a team member who thrives in a fast-paced environment and revels in bringing digital-led strategic thinking to crisis situations. This individual must also be excited by the opportunity to grow as an account leader who can play an active role in strategically driving digital crisis account work. As a member of the U.S. Crisis & Risk team, they will also serve as a mentor to junior staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Engagement:
    • Serve as day-to-day lead on client engagements; address client issues thoughtfully and effectively.
  • Digital Landscape Understanding:
    • Understand the digital ecosystem and how various issues can arise, evolve, and escalate and be able to translate into strategies and action as needed.
  • Crisis Preparedness and Response:
    • Lead the development of crisis preparedness and response materials, including crisis playbooks and training materials.
  • Social Listening and Insights:
    • Manage junior staff members conducting topline social listening to inform breaking issues and develop insights and recommendations for clients.
  • Community Management:
    • Oversee and/or support community management programs.
  • Disinformation Combat:
    • Support programs to prepare for, monitor, and combat disinformation online.
  • Web Content Development:
    • Develop website content and coordinate crisis web builds.
  • Paid Media in Crisis:
    • Demonstrate basic understanding of using paid media in a crisis and liaise with the performance marketing team on strategy and execution of paid tactics.
  • Media Relations and Communication:
    • Demonstrate proficiency in media relations and understanding of the current media environment, and how this intersects with the digital landscape.
    • Consistently produce high-quality internal and external communications materials, such as Q&A, holding statements, reactive and proactive social media content, and internal messages.
  • New Business Processes:
    • Participate in new business processes including research and proposal preparation.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage up and work closely with senior staff for project management and delivery.
  • Supervision and Mentorship:
    • Supervise junior staff by motivating, coaching, and providing feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Basic:
    • At least 4 years of relevant experience in Communications, Marketing and/or related fields.
    • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred:
    • Strong understanding of and demonstrated experience in digital communications and/or crisis communications.
    • Interest in crisis and risk/reputation risk management.
    • Understanding of social media platforms and best practices.
    • Positive, collaborative attitude.
    • Strong organizational, scheduling, and time/project management skills; possess the ability to meet multiple deadlines simultaneously.
    • Superior verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent writing abilities.
    • Familiarity with social media listening and analytics tools like Google Analytics, Brandwatch, Talk Walker, etc.

Salary: $67,000 – $94,000 a year. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs.
