Job Description Summary
Policy Advisor
DLA Piper’s Washington, DC office seeks a Policy Advisor with 7+ year’s related experience working on the Hill, as part of an administration, or in a corporate environment to join our growing AI Policy Team. Candidates must have prior experience in legislative advocacy, with a focus on technology related policy topics. Candidates must also have excellent academic credentials and possess superior analytical, written, verbal and interpersonal skills, be highly organized and detail-oriented, and have the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines. Experience developing and implementing successful legislative, lobbying and political strategies, and strong legislative connections are preferred.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain relationships with key influencers from Congressional, Executive and Regulatory offices, trade associations, think tanks and other relevant organizations
- Monitor the legislative and regulatory environment relative to AI and technology policy and communicate developments to clients and internal stakeholders
- Develop and build consensus policy positions on AI policy issues
- Formulate and execute strategies to advance client objectives.

Requirements:
- 7+ years of AI policy experience
- Prior positions on Capitol Hill, or part of an Administration.
- Prior experience in legislative advocacy, with a focus on technology-related policy topics.
- Experience developing and implementing successful legislative, lobbying, and political strategies.
- Strong legislative connections are preferred
Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements
- Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
